The Principal Project Manager is a senior-level role responsible for overseeing the most strategic, high-impact SaaS projects within the organization. This role requires extensive experience in project management and the ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage client relationships, and ensure successful project delivery that aligns with the company’s long-term goals. The Principal Project Manager plays a pivotal role in driving business outcomes and influencing organizational growth through the successful execution of complex projects.  In addition to managing strategic post-sales customer engagements, this role will also have a high degree of operational autonomy as we will need an innovative thinker to help build and launch PMO strategy and best practices.   

 Crucially, this role is designed to focus on 3 key areas for our Professional Services organization: PMO rigor and best practices development, strategic project management and delivery of customer implementations, and cross-functional collaboration.  As such, this role also requires a comfort level with unknowns and creatively charting new paths to successful outcomes, all while forging new partnerships internally to allow us to create more value for our customers and the business. 

Responsibilities 

  • Lead strategic, high-impact implementation projects that are critical to the organization’s success.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and clients to define project goals, scope, and success criteria.
  • Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Manage senior project teams, providing mentorship and strategic direction to junior project managers.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for complex, multi-faceted projects.
  • Ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the project management function.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in project management, providing insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Conduct gap analysis of existing processes and systems leveraged within the Professional Services organization and identify / recommend changes for objective, data-driven value additions
  • Proactively design new cross-functionally impacting processes that allow us to improve our primary metrics: Time to Value, Time to Engage/Backlog reduction, and other efficiency measurements
  • Serve as project management discipline mouthpiece and thought leader within the Professional Services organization and promote visibility and adherence to new and existing processes 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 Qualifications 

  • 7+ years of experience managing large, complex SaaS projects.
  • Expertise in project management methodologies and tools (PMP, Agile, Scrum, LEAN 6 sigma certifications).
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate with senior leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Creative personality with proven track record of having designed and implemented net-new processes.
  • Experience with leveraging trends to make data-driven decisions that have yielded significant improvements to post-sales services metrics and cross-functional accountability.
  • Strong leadership skills, with a focus on mentoring and developing teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience managing large project budgets and complex project portfolios. 

Preferred  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Project Management, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Have directly worked in or led a PMO
