About the role

As a Senior Systems Engineer in the Server Management team, you will be pivotal in leading the delivery of server and systems management services to Datacom Businesses across multiple geographies. This role involves ensuring that services comply with SLAs, quality, and time targets, while collaborating effectively with Datacom colleagues, delivery teams, and third-party vendors.

You are expected to bring your extensive Linux System Administrator knowledge and experience to ensure seamless BAU operations. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading operations within a Change Controlled Environment adhering to ITIL processes.
  • Overseeing asset monitoring and inventory management.
  • Ensuring compliance with Security Policy and conducting Compliance Audits.
  • Managing patching and remediation processes.
  • Implementing Linux add-on services and configurations.
  • Facilitating proactive incident management and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Administering server provisioning, deployment, and decommissioning.
  • Driving platform migration and integration initiatives.

  • Your working arrangements will be;
    • To undertake overtime as required
    • To be on an on-call basis as per the roster
    • To travel internationally for training or as needed
    • To keep records of effort and time as directed
    • Meet any assigned personal KPIs

Requirements

Knowledge and Experience

  • Extensive experience in Linux Operating System administration (RHEL, CentOS, SLES, Ubuntu).
  • Strong background in Hypervisor management (VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Proficient in Cloud Platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • Expertise in installing and configuring services on Linux (BIND, HTTPD, NTP, CRON, SSH, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Proficient in managing web instances, virtual hosts, and SSL certificates.
  • Experience with Configuration Management Tools (Red Hat Satellite, Foreman, Spacewalk).
  • Familiarity with Monitoring Tools (SCOM, PRTG, Nagios, Zabbix).
  • Advanced scripting skills in Linux (Bash, Python, Perl, PowerShell).
  • Experience with Linux SSO and Active Directory integration.
  • Exceptional knowledge in Automation platforms (Ansible, Puppet, Terraform).
  • Deep understanding of Integration platforms (Jenkins, Bamboo).
  • Repository control experience (Git, Subversion).
  • Proficient with Security Scanning Tools (Nessus, Retina, OpenVAS).

Additional Skills

  • Leadership in guiding junior engineers and teams.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience in complex problem solving and system architecture design.
