The Role:

Sunbit is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director, Finance to join our growing team. This critical role will be responsible for overseeing key financial functions, providing strategic financial guidance, and contributing to the overall financial health and growth of the company.

This highly visible role offers a unique opportunity to meaningfully shape the future of our financial operations. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of financial principles, a strong work ethic, effective communicator, and someone with a proven track record who brings a focus on continuous improvement and enjoys collaborating with people across the organization in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

This position reports into the Chief Capital Officer, and will primarily work remotely, but will be required to travel to the LA headquarters as necessary.


Requirements

What You'll Own:

  • Financial Strategy: Partner with business leaders to develop and implement the company's overall financial strategy in alignment with business goals. Provide strategic financial input and leadership to support decision-making at the executive level. Evaluate and recommend potential investments, acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives. Develop financial models and conduct sensitivity analysis to assess potential risks and opportunities.
  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Lead the development and execution of the company's financial planning process, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities. Conduct financial analysis and performance monitoring, identify key trends and variances, and provide actionable insights to executive leadership to support business growth and profitability.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Capital Management: Partner with colleagues across the finance department, including Capital Markets and Accounting, in connection with the development and execution of the company’s capital strategy, including debt and equity financings.
  • Financial Reporting: Lead the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial reports to the executive team, board of directors and external stakeholders. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Investor Relations (as needed):Prepare presentations and serve as a liaison with investors and financial institutions. Communicate the company's financial performance and strategy.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing finance team, and foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Recruit, train, and retain skilled finance professionals
  • Special Projects: Lead or participate in special projects as assigned, such as system implementations, due diligence, and other ad-hoc analyses.
  • Drive financial discipline, fact-based decision-making, and financial visibility across the company.
  • Drive dialogue between key stakeholders to establish and evolve organizational KPIs.


What You Bring To The Table: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field. MBA or CPA is often preferred.
  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in finance, with a focus on FP&A, financial reporting, and strategic finance.
  • Experience at an entity with a balance sheet lending strategy in the fintech industry or with a specialty finance lending company that originates consumer loans and/or credit card receivables is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of financial management principles, GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and long-range plans.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization. 
  • Superior in financial modeling and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, financial planning software).
  • Experience with ERP systems (such as NetSuite) is a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence.
