Job Title: Systems Engineer III
Location: Remote
Clearance Required: Public Trust; US Citizen  

Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) combines software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems. SRE ensures that cloud services—both our internally critical and our externally-visible systems—have reliability, uptime appropriate to customer's needs and a fast rate of improvement. Additionally SRE’s will keep an ever-watchful eye on our systems capacity and performance.

Much of our software development focuses on optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure and eliminating work through automation. On the SRE team, you’ll have the opportunity to manage the complex challenges of scale which are unique to AWS Cloud, while using your expertise in coding, algorithms, complexity analysis and large-scale system design. Key Responsibilities 

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Write efficient code and maintain code quality, organization, documentation, and automatization. 
  • Create websites using standard HTML/CSS best practices. 
  • Work with peer web designers and stakeholders to gather requirements, meet project deliverables and milestones to produce quality websites. 
  • Work with IT security staff and communications professionals to meet yearly web certifications and implement security updates as required. 
  • Troubleshooting and debugging applications 
  • Researches and recommends cloud architecture that will enhance internal tools, and systems. 
  • Provide optimization and best practices utilizing AWS tools. 
  • Develop, document and implement cloud solutions to ensure application high availability in both hybrid on-premise cloud and fully cloud hosted applications to provide an always on experience. 
  • Acts as a subject matter expert for cloud end-to-end architecture, including current and future providers, networking, provisioning, and management. 
  • Collaborate closely with application development teams to ensure environments are stable, secure, and performant. 

                    Required Qualifications:

                    • Education:
                      • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering or related field 
                    • Experience/Skills:
                      • 8+ years of Software Engineering and/or SRE experience is required.
                      • Provide direct support in the day-to-day operations on customer applications including the evaluation of application performance, monitoring response time and primary support for detection and correction of operational problems.
                      • Participate in planning design, technical review and implementation for new application development design to support SRE practices.
                      • Diagnose and resolve complex communication problems.

                    Preferred Experience/Skills:

                    • Prior Experience with AWS Cloud 
                    • Good understanding of database architecture and query optimization 
                    • Ability to evolving technologies 
                    • Must possess experience and understanding of government contracting 
                    • Strong and effective verbal and communications skills 
                    • Exceptional organizational skills 

                    Salary and Benefit Information:

                    The likely salary range for this position is $56,000- $138,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position and could fall outside of this range.
