Job description

Holman has an outstanding opportunity for a Manager – Data Tools Administration to join the team.
 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Project Management:
    • Project Planning and Execution: Develop detailed project plan containing timelines, resources, milestones, and deliverables. Includes tracking progress, communicating status to project stakeholders, and identifying risks and mitigation strategies
    • Resource Management: Ensure that right people, skills, and tools are available for the project. Includes managing spend as well ensuring resources are utilized optimally, addressing any resource gaps
    • Quality Assurance and Deliverable Validation: Conduct code reviews, oversee testing (functional and non-functional), and quality control processes ensuring deliverables meet defined requirements, are free of defects, and follow defined best practices
  • Agile Project Management:
    • Lead projects from inception to completion using Agile methodologies
    • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders
    • Develop detailed project plans, including sprints, timelines, and resource allocation
    • Facilitate Agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives
    • Monitor project progress, manage risks, and implement corrective actions as needed
    • Communicate project status, updates, and issues to stakeholders and senior management
  • Team Building:
    • Team Development and Leadership: Establish clear roles, responsibilities, reporting structures and performance expectations, manage team dynamics and resolve conflicts, facilitate team bonding and collaboration activities, providing development opportunities for growth
    • Knowledge and Culture Management: Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture, establish knowledge sharing practices, organize learning sessions, facilitate continuous learning, promote best practice and lessons learned and manage cultural diversity and remote team dynamics
    • Motivating and Supporting Team Morale: Recognize and celebrate achievements, reward success and provide support during challenges, regular and timely feedback, ensure work life balance
  • Business Acumen:
    • Demonstrate strong business acumen by understanding organizational goals, market trends, and financial principles, translating business needs into technology solutions, and driving initiatives that deliver measurable value and competitive advantage
  • Communication:
    • Communicate with management, end-users or customer to define system requirements, and establish/maintain an effective and proactive relationship with end-users and key stakeholders to keep current with business goals within responsible areas for most business processes
    • Conduct project presentations and compile reports
    • Track, follows-up and report metrics for all projects and cases assigned; status, effort, percent complete, slippage, project effort, duration to completion
    • Communicates roadblocks quickly and provides alternatives for resolution for most business process
    • Liaison with other technology teams within the organization as necessary to support projects for which there are dependencies or adjacencies
  • IT Technical skills:
    • Responsible for ensuring that platforms managed by this team have sufficient, and verified DR and HA capabilities to meet business SLA’s and support annual DR tests
    • Responsible for assessing and planning appropriate performance and scalability capabilities platforms managed by this team to ensure they meet business SLA’s
    • Ensures that platforms managed by this team are being monitored and makes recommendations for corrective action
    • Ensures that proper data security best practices are being followed for platforms managed by this team
    • Plans and coordinates the design and implementation of information platforms such as business intelligence and integration platforms that support the enterprise data vision of the organization, including API management, Visualization Tools, ETL tools, and integration platforms on premise and in the cloud.
    • Continuously improve and automate operational processes to enhance team efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
    • Collects and analyzes system operational information for capacity and planning purposes
    • Provides support to end-users for application connectivity and product usage
  • Automation & Scripting:
  • Automate repetitive tasks and resource provisioning using Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates, Azure CLI, PowerShell, or Terraform
  • Develop and maintain automation workflows to manage the lifecycle of Azure resources, including scaling, patching, and decommissioning of services
  • Integrate and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate infrastructure deployment and updates in collaboration with DevOps teams
  • Cloud Security & Compliance:
  • Works with infrastructure networking, security, and Active Directory admin teams to integrate and secure cloud data platform components within our environments
  • Implement security best practices to protect cloud resources
  • Perform regular security audits, implement role-based access control (RBAC), and enforce policies
  • Monitoring & Performance Optimization:
  • Monitor Cloud resources and services such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights to ensure high availability and performance
  • Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and inefficiencies within the Azure environment
  • Implement and manage alerting, logging, and reporting systems to detect and troubleshoot issues quickly
  • Backup & Disaster Recovery:
  • Set up and manage  Backup and Recovery to ensure data protection and disaster recovery readiness for cloud workloads
  • Regularly test and verify backup and recovery processes, ensuring critical data and applications can be restored in the event of an outage or failure
  • Cost Management & Optimization:
  • Optimize Azure spending by analyzing usage patterns and identifying opportunities for cost savings, such as rightsizing resources, selecting appropriate storage tiers, and using reserved instances
  • Track resource consumption using Azure Cost Management and assist in budgeting for Azure usage
  • Implement tagging strategies to track and allocate costs to departments or projects effectively

Relevant Work Experience:

  • 5+ years of IT experience including at least two years in an Azure Cloud system admin role
  • Minimum 2 years experience managing a technical team
  • Minimum 2 years experience with Cloud Architecture and Database cloud computing
  • Experience with data lake architecture
  • Experienced in Azure Cloud platform system administration version control, configuration management, tuning and troubleshooting along with direct user support
  • Experienced designing, deploying, and running Azure Cloud data pipeline components such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Key Vaults, Data Lake Storage, Azure Serverless SQL, Azure Machine Learning, network private endpoints
  • Experience integrating Azure Cloud resources with Active Directory and network private endpoints
  • Hands-on experience in disaster recovery and backup solutions in Azure
  • Experience with cost management tools and optimization strategies for Azure environments
  • Experience with Azure Automation tools such as Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates, Azure CLI, PowerShell, and Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and management
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights, for monitoring and alerting
  • Strong understanding of cloud security principles and tools
  • Experience with business intelligence and integration platforms
  • Experience with reviewing and improving processes, methods, and tools to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Experience with conducting meetings for large IT software development teams and business sponsors
  • Experience with organizing and managing multiple IT projects to meet schedules and deadlines
  • Experience with translating business requirements into IT system design or programming specs necessary to resolve the business requirements for IT projects
  • Experience with creation of business design artifacts, such as business process flows and rich text diagrams
  • Experience with organizational, analytical and problem solving skills with experience executing IT  projects on time and on budget
  • Experience with Providing estimates on assigned tasks and IT projects

Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in a computer science, engineering or related field required
  • Microsoft AZ-900, DP-900, & CS900 certification training
  • Proficient in various desktop tools including MS Office Programs (i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, SharePoint etc.)
  • Proficient with ADO (Azure Dev Ops) for managing departmental tasks and projects

Pay:

We offer competitive wages that are commensurate with job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and geographic location, starting in the range of $112,160.00 - $176,645.00 USD annually for full time employees. The annual compensation range is comprised of base pay and bonus earnings.
