Job Overview

Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for a Senior UX Designer to lead designs for a number of products in our IVANS portfolio. IVANS is the insurance industry’s platform to connect insurers, MGAs, agencies, and the insured. The Sr. UX Designer will be dedicated to conducting primary user research, exploring user requirements, vetting user scenarios, sketching, wireframing, mocking up, and prototyping solutions. Ultimately accountable for the delivery, quality, and success of the product’s user experience throughout the entire product lifecycle

What You’ll Do

In this position, you will:

  • Develop a strong understanding of our users’ experience through our suite of products, and explore the needs and motivations of our target users
  • Research and recommend the best interaction designs and UX best practices to follow
  • Bring product ideas to life with quick, well-reasoned wireframes, mockups, and coded prototypes
  • Coordinate and conduct primary user research and formal Usability Testing to help us efficiently validate and iterate
  • Collaborate with the product and development teams as they implement the design into working code
  • Take proactive leadership on projects, driving for the triple-diamond of discovery, design iteration, and follow-up iterations
  • Partner with stakeholders in identifying, constructing, and testing information architecture
  • Articulate with ease the why behind your design decisions
  • Collaborate on the design system, building out atomic design components for reuse across the Ivans portfolio
  • Build trust and establish long-term relationships through masterful storytelling in advocating for the user with design decisions

What You’ll Need to Succeed

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Ability to work 100% remotely, or from an Applied Systems office

Your experience should include some or all of the following:

  • Experience in Product Operations and/or Product Management
  • 5+ years of experience in UX, preferably in a commercial software environment working on B2B enterprise software or SaaS products
  • Well-versed in experimental design, research methodology, and statistical analysis
  • Demonstrated experience with research methodologies such as user observation, usability testing, card sorts, persona development, user journeys, and surveys
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret research data and turn it into actionable insights
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills that promote idea-sharing and knowledge transfer
  • Excellent planning, time management, and organizational skills
  • Proficient in design and prototyping tools (Figma, Balsamiq, Miro, whiteboards, etc.)
  • Familiar with web front-end technologies including grid layout systems, CSS/SASS, React
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in the areas of Information Science, Computer Science, or related disciplines
