SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Under responsibility of the Regional Sales Director and as part of the sales team, the Territory Manager (TM) ensures our customers are happy, increases revenue and profitability in the assigned geographical area. The TM visits new and existing customers on a daily basis, presents and sells Merit solutions according to the marketing strategy. The TM is the main point of contact for customers in the assigned area. The TM makes in-service presentations to clinicians, explaining new products and their use. The TM maintains close relationships with KOL and customers to ensure that their needs are understood and met. The TM coordinates with Merit marketing and sales staff to ensure that products are delivered on time, to stay informed about new products, and to provide customer feedback about product innovation. The TM reports activity and sales results on a regular basis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS PERFORMED

•    Achieves sales target, increases market share and profitability.
•    Sets and follows up an action plan aligned with the strategy to achieve goals.

•    Works closely with teammates to ensure good communication and to combine efforts.

•    Establishes and maintains close relationships with customers by :

  • Being present with customers and accounts on a daily basis to present and demonstrate Merit products and to explain their benefits.
  • Identifying potential customers and introducing them to the products offered by Merit.
  • Maintaining contacts with customers to monitor their satisfaction, address concerns and provide solutions.
  • Preparing and submitting pricing contracts to customers for products.

•    Makes decisions within approved authorization limits regarding product pricing to optimize sales volume and profitability.
•    Implements sales and marketing strategies in the territory.

•    Enters and follows up sales opportunities and customer information in the CRM.
•    Coordinates with other departments to stay informed about new products provided by Merit, and to provide feedback from customers about product needs and possible innovations.
•    Prepares and submit reports to RSM when needed.

•    Prepares and presents a resume of the activity on a regular basis.

•    Participates in a variety of sales training and planning meetings to learn about new products and marketing promotions.
•    Maintains a high level of knowledge about Merit and competitor products and their advantages and disadvantages.

•    Maintains a high level of knowledge about the clinical environment and clinial studies.
•    Participates in industry or promotional events (e.g. trade shows, workshops).

•   Particpates in various sales meetings

•    Manages consignments on a regular basis.
•    Travels by car, train, airplane, etc. to perform sales duties with customers.
•    Performs a variety of other sales related duties, as required.

 

SUMMARY OF MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

•    Education and experience equivalent to a related Bachelor's Degree.

•    A minimum of three years of direct sales experience, preferably in selling medical devices.
•    Ability to communicate effectively (in French) with and to understand the needs of others in a sales relationship
•    A high degree of personal motivation and drive to achieve personal and professional goals.
•    Excellent oral presentation skills and the ability to think quickly to apply facts in analyzing a problem and explaining that answer to a group of medical technicians and clinicians.
•    Ability to learn the usage of medical equipment and to identify and explain possible improvements in usage. 
•    Ability to work effectively as a team member to achieve organization goals.
•    Ability to utilize business mathematics to figure percentages, prepare financial and sales information.
•    A high degree of personal organization skills, including the ability to record and report information and to document work performed.
•    Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision.
•    Ability to travel extensively and work long hours to achieve goals, as required.
•    Excellent driving record with no driving accidents in the past three years or no more than one driving ticket  in the last three years.
•    Demonstrated computer skills preferably spreadsheets, word processing, database and other applicable software programs
