DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Health Care Nurse Surveyor, you will protect public health by conducting health care surveys to determine compliance with federal regulations. You will survey and resurvey state centers, intermediate care facilities, psychiatric residential treatment facilities, and community mental health centers for Medicaid or Medicare certification . This role requires strong critical thinking skills, effective communication, and sound judgement to document survey data, apply regulations to survey findings, and prepare survey reports. You will also travel to assigned facilities which may include overnight or state-wide travel, train new surveyors, follow regulations while determining non-compliance, and maintain fairness, and confidentiality at all times.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday. Irregular work hours will be required.
  • Frequent travel within Lackawanna, Wayne, Wyoming, Pike, Luzerne, Monroe, Carbon, Lehigh, and Northampton counties, and travel to other parts of the Commonwealth is required.
  • You will be required to carry a cell phone and respond to complaints during off-hours.
  • This is a home headquartered position which will require you to be headquartered at your home and travel to worksites to complete your work duties. In order to be home headquartered, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

QUALIFICATIONS

Special Requirements:

  • All positions require successful completion of the relevant provider-specific federally mandated Surveyor Minimum Qualifications training and Test (SMQT) provided by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services or an equivalent certifying body for the discipline, within one year of hire.
  • You must have active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
  • You must be in possession of an active motor vehicle license.
