About Voters of Tomorrow

Voters of Tomorrow (VOT) is a political movement for young people and by young people. With the guiding goal of building youth political power, VOT has a presence in over 25 states and volunteers in all 50. Backed by extensive research on Gen Z, we’re taking the issues Gen Z cares about most into the rooms where decisions get made. Through extensive advocacy, on-the-ground and online organizing, and a nationwide network of Gen Z organizers and activists, we’re making sure that as the most diverse generation, we are represented and spoken for.

Job Summary

The Development Director is responsible for leading and implementing fundraising strategies to secure financial resources for Voters of Tomorrow. This role focuses on developing relationships with large-dollar donors, managing donor engagement programs, and ensuring the organization meets its financial goals. The Development Director will work closely with the Executive Director and other stakeholders to drive strategic growth and sustainability.

This is a full time, salaried, and remote position reporting to the Senior Director of Operations. The pay range for this position is $70,000 - $80,000/year. The ideal candidate will bring visionary leadership, a data-driven mindset, and a deep commitment to advancing VOT’s mission.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead the development, implementation, and execution of a large-dollar donor strategy, cultivating and maintaining relationships with key donors.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to align with Voters of Tomorrow’s organizational goals.
  • Oversee research of potential donors to gain insights into their needs, beliefs, and donation habits to enhance engagement strategies.
  • Identify, contact, and follow up with prospective donors, providing necessary information to encourage contributions.
  • Design and implement programs that engage and retain new and existing donors.
  • Develop compelling fundraising messages that align with the Voters of Tomorrow brand and resonate with potential donors.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to establish fundraising goals and provide regular progress reports.
  • Plan and execute fundraising campaigns and events to solicit donations, including coordination with key donors.
  • Develop and maintain accurate records of donor information, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
  • Assess the effectiveness of fundraising efforts and events, making strategic adjustments as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with donor and legal reporting requirements, preparing necessary documentation.
  • Identify and apply for grants applicable to Voters of Tomorrow’s programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and funding needs.
Requirements and Skills
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, or related roles.
  • Proven track record in securing major gifts and cultivating donor relationships.
  • Strong strategic planning and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling fundraising messages.
  • Experience organizing and managing fundraising events and campaigns.
  • Proficiency in donor management software and CRM systems.
  • Ability to analyze fundraising data and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical fundraising standards and best practices.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire donors.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
  • Passion for youth empowerment, civic engagement, and advancing the organization's mission.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining a focus on results.
