JOB SUMMARY:
The Manager, Supplier Relations is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing and optimizing relationships with pharmaceutical wholesalers, manufacturers, and vendors, ensuring supplier satisfaction, improving platform offerings, and driving marketplace growth. This role focuses on creating and executing strategies to enhance supplier performance, address product gaps, and ensure comprehensive product availability and competitive pricing on the MARKET platform. Reporting directly to the VP of PrimeRx MARKET, this remote position involves up to 40% travel for supplier meetings, partnerships, and industry events.
The ideal candidate combines data-driven decision-making with strong relationship-building skills to foster long-term supplier engagement and expand product diversity across pharmaceuticals, OTC products, medical devices, and other healthcare items. This role also plays a critical part in leveraging MARKET’s proprietary data sets—including pharmacy dispensing data, third-party reimbursement trends, and historical MARKET sales data—to drive supplier participation and inform internal decision-making. Additionally, this role will work closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to optimize the utilization of MARKET’s technology capabilities, including EDI/API-based integrations, self-service tools for buyers, and payments management solutions, ensuring seamless transactions and an enhanced marketplace experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supplier Management and Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact for all suppliers, fostering collaborative and proactive partnerships. Develop and implement supplier scorecards to track and improve key performance metrics, including order fulfillment rates, pricing competitiveness, and inventory accuracy. Host quarterly business reviews with suppliers to evaluate performance, share data-driven insights, and identify growth opportunities. Leverage aggregated dispensing, reimbursement, and MARKET sales data to provide suppliers with strategic recommendations on pricing, formulary access, and high-opportunity product categories. Resolve supplier-related escalations (e.g., order delays, discrepancies) while using data insights to proactively address supply chain inefficiencies. Ensure suppliers are effectively leveraging MARKET’s technology capabilities, including EDI and API integration, to improve automation and operational efficiency. Encourage suppliers to adopt self-service functionalities that streamline communication, reduce manual intervention, and improve buyer satisfaction.
Strategic Supplier Expansion: Use dispensing data at the NDC level to identify high-demand product gaps and onboard new suppliers to fill these needs. Analyze third-party reimbursement data to assess PBM payment trends and ensure that suppliers prioritize products with favorable reimbursement rates. Identify growth opportunities for suppliers by leveraging historical MARKET sales data, purchasing trends, and competitive benchmarks. Expand MARKET’s product catalog by targeting high-volume, high-margin products informed by pharmacy dispensing trends. Develop tiered supplier engagement models to retain and grow high-performing suppliers, ensuring MARKET maintains a strong pipeline of competitive product offerings.
Data-Driven Insights and Collaboration: Develop advanced analytics dashboards to provide real-time supplier KPIs, enabling data-driven decision-making for both suppliers and internal teams. Partner with internal teams, including sales, marketing, and product development, to integrate supplier data insights into broader strategic initiatives. Work with cross-functional teams to ensure that data-driven insights are incorporated into pricing model sand supplier incentive programs. Host supplier-specific analytics workshops to showcase how data insights can enhance supplier performance and business growth on MARKET.
Platform Optimization: Ensure comprehensive supplier participation and product availability by aligning offerings with pharmacy purchasing behavior and PBM coverage trends. Work with analytics and technology teams to develop a supplier portal where vendors can access customized performance reports, competitor benchmarking, and actionable insights. Optimize supplier onboarding workflows, ensuring optimal activation times and streamlined integration into the MARKET platform. Implement technology-driven solutions to enhance supplier self-service capabilities, allowing vendors to access performance metrics, pricing benchmarks, and forecasting models in real-time. Collaborate with suppliers to optimize the utilization of MARKET’s EDI and API capabilities, ensuring seamless product integration, inventory updates, and automated order processing. Develop and enhance self-service tools that provide buyers with real-time order tracking, visibility into order exceptions, and a centralized portal for invoice retrieval. Work with the payments vendor to enhance payment convenience for buyers, enabling efficient management of payment exceptions, refunds, and overdue balances.
Leadership and Strategy: Partner with the VP of PrimeRx MARKET to align supplier engagement strategies with business growth objectives. Provide executive-level reporting on supplier performance, revenue impact, and opportunities to scale MARKET’s product offerings. Represent MARKET at industry events, supplier summits, and healthcare conferences to enhance supplier relationships and showcase MARKET’s value proposition. JOB COMPETENCIES:Ability to interpret and leverage dispensing data, reimbursement trends, and MARKET sales insights to drive supplier engagement, optimize platform offerings, and create new revenue opportunities. Proven experience in managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and driving supplier performance improvements through data-driven insights. Expertise in evaluating pharmaceutical purchasing behaviors, PBM reimbursement trends, and formulary access to align supplier offerings with pharmacy demand. Experience in packaging and presenting data-driven insights for suppliers, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and other stakeholders. Proficiency in CRM platforms, data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI, and supplier management systems to enhance reporting and decision-making. Strong leadership skills, with the ability to align internal teams, influence suppliers, and present insights to executive leadership. Understanding of HIPAA, data de-identification processes, and regulatory considerations related to pharmaceutical data. Ability to clearly articulate data-driven insights, negotiate supplier agreements, and present complex analytics to both technical and non-technical audiences. Highly organized and results-driven, with the ability to execute strategic initiatives, manage multiple projects, and meet key performance objectives. QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in business administration, Healthcare Analytics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Minimum five years of experience in pharmaceutical supplier relations, purchasing, managed care analytics, healthcare marketplace operations, or pharmaceutical business intelligence. Experience working with pharmaceutical purchasing data, PBM reimbursement analytics, formulary strategy, or drug pricing models. Proficiency in CRM platforms, data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI, and business intelligence reporting. Ability to interpret and commercialize pharmaceutical data insights for internal business decisions and supplier engagement. Strong negotiation, communication, and leadership skills to influence supplier strategy and platform growth. Ability to travel up to 40%.
Preferred Qualifications:MBA or an advanced degree in Business, Healthcare Management, Data Analytics, or a related field. A Licensed Pharmacist (RPh, PharmD) or Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) with vendor management experience. Experience in pharmaceutical marketplace operations, group purchasing organizations (GPOs), or pharmaceutical sales strategy with a focus on supplier engagement and data-driven decision-making. Familiarity with supplier technology integration, including EDI, API-based solutions, and automated marketplace tools, to enhance supplier onboarding and transaction efficiency. Experience with payments processing, order management platforms, or self-service marketplace tools to streamline supplier and buyer interactions. Understanding of HIPAA compliance, data de-identification practices, and regulatory considerations for managing pharmaceutical data insights.
