Job description

Candidates for a QA Lead position typically have a major in computer science or an engineering degree with programming exposure and an interest in a technical career. The QA Lead tests and supports world class software applications for some of the world’s largest companies. Perfaware’s QA lead and testers champion top technologies and methods to test best-of-breed software products such as IBM Sterling OMS, Salesforce and Kibo OMS and Perfaware developed software products while working in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities of a QA Lead  include:

  • Establish and implement a QA strategy and manage test execution for Perfaware’s  projects based on IBM Sterling  suite of  products or other industry leading Retail solutions
  • Advise customers in US and Internationally on eCommerce, OMS, Inventory, Call Center and Store applications testing and setting up testing practices
  • Promote, foster and proactively implement the use of quality assurance best practices 
  • Co-ordinate with onsite and offshore team and own all QA activities on a project: creating test plans, writing test cases, performing functional and exploratory testing, managing test coverage, effectively communicating statuses, defect management and coordinating meetings.
  • Work with cross-functional team members to define and understand functional & non-functional requirements and capture business requirements through behavior driven test scripts.
  • Oversee and delegate work to offshore QA Associates, team members and Interns, as needed.
  • Guide team in usage of automation tools such as Automation Anywhere, Jasper, Postman, JiffyTest suite to improve and streamline testing
  • Manage and maintain efficiencies in the automated script execution and script development through the implementation of automation best practices.
  • Maintain a high level of situational awareness regarding all activities relevant to meeting project schedules, customer SLAs, and providing regular status updates to management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Research new technologies, including tools, components, and frameworks to enhance value to our clients and improve productivity.
  • Participate in Hiring activities, meet compliance requirements and attend meetings

 Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 5-15 years experience as QA Tester and Test Lead working on testing of Enterprise grade J2EE, SOA applications on Oracle or DB2 database, Unix/Linux environments
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience using various testing methodologies and industry standard testing tools – Jira, TestRail, Postman, .
  • Familiarity with various technologies including RDBMS (SQL), SaaS, Public Clouds and Unix /Linux environments
  • Proficient in testing software manually; including but not limited to experience-based, context, exploratory, and scenario testing
  • Passion for automation and leveraging automation tools like or others to reduce test cycles and increase code quality while lowering total costs
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and creative problem solving skills 
  • Detail-oriented and produces high quality work under demanding circumstances
  • Flexible  to new situations and challenges 
  • Go-Getter willing to go the extra mile with a strong work ethic; self-directed and resourceful
  • Able to travel up to 10% – 1 a quarter to client site for training/UAT support
  • Work experience with North America clients is a plus

Nice to have:

  • Enthusiasm to learn new tools, technologies and techniques
  • Experience with Retail OMS/eCommerce/ERP/WMS  applications like IBM Sterling Order Management/SFCC/VTex/Magento/Manhattan/Blue Yonder.
  • Experience with leading database servers – Oracle or DB2
  • Familiarity with Automated testing and load testing tools such as HP LoadRunner/Selenium/Neoload/Grinder/Jython/JMeter
  • Bachelors or Master degree in Information Technology or Engineering
