The University of the Cumberlands is seeking an AI Developer to lead the design, development, and integration of artificial intelligence solutions across the institution. This role will focus on building AI-driven tools, automation solutions, and generative AI applications to enhance operational efficiency, improve student services, and streamline university processes.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in AI development, machine learning, automation, and natural language processing (NLP) with a passion for using AI to optimize university operations.
• Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered chatbots and virtual assistants for stakeholder inquiries and student support.
• Implement automation tools to streamline administrative processes, such as admissions workflows, financial aid processing, and student engagement.
• Assist with the development and deployment of predictive analytics models to support student retention, enrollment trends, and academic performance forecasting.
• Work with various teams to integrate AI solutions into existing enterprise systems (CRM, LMS, SIS, ERP).
• Develop and deploy generative AI models (e.g., GPT, LLaMA, BERT) for AI-assisted content creation, document summarization, and automated responses.
• Develop AI-enhanced knowledge management tools for faculty, staff, and student use.
• Stay up to date with emerging AI trends, large language models (LLMs), and automation frameworks.
• Research and evaluate new AI solutions for potential institution-wide adoption.
• Optimize AI models for efficiency, accuracy, and ethical considerations in higher education.
• Assist with the development of AI-enhanced teaching tools and research applications.
• Provide technical support and training to university departments on AI-powered solutions.
• Document AI development projects, ensuring scalability and long-term sustainability.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Python and relevant frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn) and SQL.• Experience developing chatbots, automation scripts, and AI-driven applications.
Familiarity with OpenAI API.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (specifically, we use Snowflake on Azure)• Strong understanding of natural language processing (NLP), large language models (LLMs), and machine learning algorithms.
• Ability to integrate AI models with databases, APIs, and web applications.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently on AI-driven projects.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Experience in higher education or edtech applications of AI.
• Familiarity with student information systems (SIS), learning management systems (LMS), and CRM platforms.
• Knowledge of AI ethics, security, and compliance in academic environments.
• Prior experience deploying AI-powered automation solutions in a corporate or university setting.
