Summary of Job Duties:
The Department Administrator of Radiation Oncology and Division Administrator for the division of Endocrinology is responsible for the administrative and financial authority in both areas and reports jointly to the Chairperson of Radiation Oncology, the Division Chief of Endocrinology, and the COM Associate Dean for Finance and Administration along with the Department Administrator for Internal Medicine.

The Department Administrator directs human resources, finance and budgeting, strategic planning, and department operations and represents the Department, Division, and College both within and outside UAMS. In helping to fulfill the mission of UAMS, the Department/Division Administrator has administrative authority over the Research, educational, and service operations and activities. He/She uses judgment and experience to apply advanced knowledge, skills, methods, and practices to ensure all department personnel follow all UAMS policies and procedures. He/She also conducts analysis and problem-solving to plan and prioritize a varied workload that involves developing solutions to emergent issues, time-sensitive and/or confidential projects, and complex problems.

The Department/Division Administrator may collaborate with one or more Service Line Administrators to facilitate strategic initiatives, faculty recruiting/onboarding, scheduling, effort allocation, assignments, and budget and financial analysis.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Health Care or related field plus 8 years business management experience with exposure to a combination of budget, finance and human resources or a Master's degree plus 6 years business management experience with exposure to a combination of budget, finance and human resources.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of academic medical center operations, planning, finance and administration. 
  • Ability to collaborate with clinical partners to ensure seamless operations between academic and clinical enterprise. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s in Business administration, health care administration, finance, accounting, legal or related.


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Grant Management & Compliance– Oversee post-award activities for Radiation Oncology and Endocrinology grants, ensuring compliance with regulations, budgetary oversight, and reporting. Collaborate with Principal Investigators, regulatory entities, and internal teams to ensure smooth grant administration.

  • Financial Oversight & Reporting – Manage financial operations, develop budgets, monitor accounts, and provide fiscal reporting for the Department of Radiation Oncology and Division of Endocrinology. Ensure compliance with funding sources, including grants, state funds, and clinical trials.

  • Administrative Leadership– Oversee department/division operations, faculty recruitment, hiring, and performance evaluations. Ensure compliance with policies, process improvements, and effective communication among staff and leadership.

  • HR & Procurement Oversight – Manage HR-related tasks for direct reports, including cost allocations and annual evaluations. Approve and oversee grant-related procurement, travel, and purchasing.

  • Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance – Ensure adherence to federal, state, and sponsor regulations. Conduct quality assurance reviews, facilitate audits, and monitor financial and operational processes.

  • Training & Additional Responsibilities– Train new employees on procurement processes, manage Central Regional Programs vehicles, and oversee reconciliation of purchasing cards. Provide customer service and support organizational goals through professional development.
