Role Summary:

As a Senior Sales Engineer at Prefect, you will be the primary technical advisor for prospective enterprise customers, guiding them through the evaluation and decision-making process. Your role will be essential to closing prospective clients, and you will have a deep empathy for solving their pain points. You will lead in-depth, consultative discussions, develop proofs-of-concept (POCs), and ensure prospective clients have a thorough understanding of Prefect’s capabilities. By aligning our product features with customer needs, you will help them see the immediate and long-term value of adopting Prefect.

We look for Sales Engineers who are strongly product-focused and eager to support the sales process. You will partner closely with your AE counterpart to ensure that prospective customers are fully enabled for success.

You will report to George Coyne, our Director of Sales Engineering.

What You'll Do:
  • Support an end-to-end sales process - engaging and advising prospective clients
  • Build and support long-lasting, mutually beneficial relationships with new Commercial clients
  • Present and demonstrate the value of Prefect from a technical perspective to prospective clients
  • Create POCs and technical solutions for prospective customers
  • Help bring in new business to Prefect, achieving monthly revenue goals
  • Embody ownership: contribute and advocate for your ideas, while also preventing projects from failing
Your Qualifications:
  • 5+ years experience as a successful quota-carrying sales/solutions engineer
  • 5+ years experience with Python
  • 5+ years of cloud infrastructure experience with either GCP, AWS or Azure equivalent
  • Experience of exceeding quota in a solution selling environment
  • Experience selling a SaaS tool to technical audiences
  • Strong listening skills and the ability to effectively communicate with senior management and C-level executives
  • Expertise in modern data science and data engineering tooling, ideally Prefect
  • Experience building large-scale data engineering or data science workflows to solve important business problems
  • Experience working with technical teams and non-technical individuals, including executive leadership, in complex organizations
  • Experience communicating value of a technical product to technical and non-technical teams
  • Comfort working with clients, while solving novel and strategic challenges

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is ($149,000-$181,000). Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and work location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Your recruiter can share more about the salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Please keep in mind that equity is not included in the range provided above and will represent a significant part of your total compensation. Benefits and any bonus or incentive compensation is also not included in the range provided above.
