Overview:

Intelligent Waves is seeking a highly skilled and results-driven Network and Software Engineer- Senior to support our mission critical work in support of our government customer at National Ground Intgelligence Center (NGIC).

Travel: This position is full-time onsite in Charlottesville, VA (NGIC). Ability to travel up to 10% of the time and will be reimbursed based on IW policy, GSA Per Diem rates and DoD Joint Travel Regulations (JTR) as required.

 

Security Clearance: The Network and Software Engineer- Senior must be a United States citizen and hold a current DoD TS/SCI security clearance or higher.

 

Adherence to all customer site protocols is mandatory for employees.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities

  • Design, Develop, and Maintain Multi-Domain Transport Services – Ensure Army MI Cloud tenants have secure and compliant infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

  • Lead and Execute Major Technology Assignments – Apply expertise in software and network engineering to oversee critical projects, recommend improvements, and drive technical success.

  • Implement and Manage Cloud and Network Solutions – Develop, deploy, and maintain network infrastructure in AWS, including Direct Connect (DX), Transit Gateways (TGWs), Kubernetes, and firewall configurations.

  • Ensure Cybersecurity Compliance – Maintain system security in accordance with DoD standards, including compliance with DoDD 8570.01-M, IAT Level II, and AWS security requirements.

  • Optimize Software Development and Automation – Utilize programming, scripting, and automation tools (e.g., Golang, Python, Ansible, Terraform) to streamline cloud deployments and DevSecOps practices.

  • Troubleshoot and Resolve Network and System Issues – Analyze and resolve complex network performance issues, including load balancing, routing, DNS, and firewall security (Palo Alto, Cisco).

  • Collaborate Across Teams – Work with cross-functional teams to ensure infrastructure performance, scalability, and security meet mission-critical requirements.

  • Supervise and Provide Technical Guidance – Mentor junior engineers, oversee project execution, and ensure best practices in software and network engineering.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • Network and Software Engineer. Design, provision, operate and maintain multi-domain transport services available to Army MI
  • Cloud tenants as Infrastructure as Code, ensuring cybersecurity compliance.
  • SENIOR: Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high impact assignments. Plans and leads major technology assignments. Evaluates performance results and recommends major changes affecting short-term project growth and success. Functions as a technical expert across multiple project assignments. May supervise others.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology related area of study. 6 years of experience implementing IT systems may substitute for academic degree.
  • 7 years hands-on software development experience with programming, scripting, or markup languages, that may include Golang, Java, JavaScript, Bash, Ansible, Python, C, JSON, or YAML.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with design, research, development, and implementation of network solutions, resolution of networking issues, load balancing, firewalls, routing, DNS
  • 1+ year hands-on experience with provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of software and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) in a DevSecOps and continuous delivery environment using tools such as terraform, CloudFormation
  • 2+ years hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services; Hands-on experience with AWS Direct Connect (DX) and TGWs
  • 2+ years hands-on experience with Kubernetes
  • 1+ year hands-on experience with Linux operating systems, command-line interfaces, firewalls, including Palo Alto, Cisco CSRs
  • Active Top Secret clearance, SCI eligibility
  • Compliance with DoDD 8570.01-M IA certifications; IAT Level II baseline and computing environment certifications such as Security + and an AWS certification within 30 days of start
  • 120 mile radius of NGIC
