Job description

What We’re Building
Honeycomb is a service for the near and present future, defining observability and raising expectations of what developer tools can do! We’re working with well known companies like HelloFresh, Slack, LaunchDarkly, and Vanguard and more across a range of industries. This is an exciting time in our trajectory, we’ve closed Series D funding, scaled past the 200-person mark, and were named to Forbes’ America’s Best Startups of 2022 and 2023!  If you want to see what we’ve been up to, please check out these blog posts and Honeycomb.io press releases.

Who We Are
We come for the impact, and stay for the culture! We’re a talented, opinionated, passionate, fiercely inclusive, and responsible group of bees. We have conviction and we strive to live our values every day. We want our people to do what they truly love amongst a team of highly talented (but humble) peers.

How We Work
We are a remote-first company, which means we believe it is not where you sit, but how you deliver that matters most. We invest in our people and care about how you orient to our culture and processes. At the same time we imbue a lot of trust, autonomy, and accountability from Day 1.

What you’ll do in the role:
Healthy and inclusive team builder
- This is a senior leadership role where you will take responsibility for product marketing, hire and support great talent, plus collaborate cross-functionally with other leaders, departments, and executives.
- Grow the PMM team by creating clear expectations and accountability practices, opportunities for growth, and a culture of proactive thinking.
- Build strong partnerships across the organization, especially with Product, Sales, Customer Success, and our internal thought leaders.
- Define and champion best practices that make our PMM team, our marketing department, and our whole org efficient and effective.

Strategic thinking that moves mountains
- Establish systems that help mature and scale our PMM practice, defining what Honeycomb needs from PMM both now and in future.
- Collaboratively build plans for each of our product offerings to maximize awareness, adoption, and expansion.
- Serve as a strategic partner in prioritizing business needs and team capacity, defining KPIs to track and measure success.

Courageous communicator and motivator
- Create messaging and tell stories that differentiate us with our core audience.
- Ensure we continue to be innovators in our space, building upon our bold thought leadership and category creation DNA.
- Establish effective feedback loops and processes between PMM and the rest of the company.

Develops self and others
- Act as a coach and mentor to the PMM team.
- Be a leader within the marketing department, ensuring we consistently raise our bar and achieve our goals.
- Approach hard challenges with curiosity and rigorous experimentation.

Think like an owner
- Develop a deep understanding of our business, both technically and commercially.
- Take a “Honeycomb first” perspective by making decisions and prioritizing resources in the best interest of the company.

What you’ll bring to the role:
- Demonstrated experience building, leading, and motivating a product marketing team. You are effective at harnessing the time and energy of skilled people across marketing functions and the company at large to drive product success.
- A hard-won playbook for driving demand, accelerating sales cycles, and increasing revenue through differentiated messaging, commercial enablement, and marketing programs for engineering and/or DevOps teams. Experience moving into the enterprise and expanding into new channels is a plus.
- Strong storytelling capabilities to ensure Honeycomb rises above the noise in a crowded and technical market.
You are able to create an emotional connection with our target audience, who are notoriously allergic to marketing, and inspire them to champion Honeycomb throughout their own organization.
- Comfortable guiding and collaborating on a full range of PMM activities, including product launches, sales and CS enablement, competitive intelligence, roadmap development, pricing and packaging strategy, and analyst engagements.
- A data-driven mindset to take the wealth of data coming from product telemetry and marketing systems to inform our go-to-market strategy.
- An open and direct communication style. We consider clear and thoughtful communication (including a willingness to give and receive feedback) as a fundamental leadership skill and one of the strongest predictors of business impact.

What you'll get when you join the Hive
  • Base pay of $260,000- 290,000 + bonus
  • A stake in our success - generous equity with employee-friendly stock program
  • It’s not about how strong of a negotiator you are - our pay is based on transparent levels relative to experience
  • Time to recharge - Unlimited PTO and paid sabbatical
  • A remote-first mindset and culture (really!)Home office, co-working, and internet stipend
  • 100% employee/75% for dependents coverage for all benefits

You don't need to be a millennial to join us, all gens are welcome! Further, we (of course) follow federal and state disability laws and are happy to provide reasonable accommodations during the application phase, interview process, and employment. Please email Talent@honeycomb.ioto discuss accessible formats or accommodations.
