Job description

The Innovation and Development Division (IDD) drives the innovation strategy for the Hubs and Operations, and contributes to the Group's transformation. It is responsible for imagining, developing and incubating new solutions until they are brought to market, particularly when it comes to offers with a high technological content (including digital and IT). IDD gathers more than 3,000 employees from 70 nationalities at 60 sites.

Air Liquide’s Biogas Solutions Americas operates a fleet of waste-to-energy production facilities across the USA, transforming waste from landfills and agricultural sources to renewable natural gas (RNG).

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

The Operations Intern will actively lead the development and implementation of a strategy and system for identifying and monitoring critical spares required at these facilities. Of interest are 2 within 50 mi of Milwaukee, and 1 (Air Liquide’s largest, globally) in Rockford, IL, where the intern may require ~2 weeks onsite at each facility, with work-from-home time possible in the interim periods. If time permits, other sites (PA, GA, LA, MS) may be relevant as well. The maintenance strategy is critical to maximizing uptime at all the facilities during operation. This will prove to be a fruitful learning opportunity for the intern, thanks to regular exposure to day-to-day industrial plant operations and how waste is transformed into renewable energy in the USA.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop an inventory of critical spare-parts stored at the respective facility: (i) noting vendor/model/quantity; (ii) photos of tags, labels of items; (iii) identify parent item/assembly/skid that each spare/item belongs to; (iv) transcribe information to Google Sheet that can be accessed by approved users.

  • Identify expired items (by date) or damaged items, and flag for action

  • Identify duplicates found in other locations, and consolidate

  • Develop a system to monitor storage location (e.g., a shelf/bin identifier)

  • Make a proposal for any infrastructure needed (bins, shelving, labeling system), get buy-in from management and plant staff, and execute ordering and implementation
