High school diploma/GED plus two (2) years of farming, gardening, or horticulture experience required.
Experience in planning community events.
Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and valid auto insurance.
Master Gardener certification (can be obtained on the job).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Self-directed reliable and able to complete projects independently and without daily supervision.
Experience with community outreach, engagement, and programming.
High work ethic and skilled at managing work hours with honesty and integrity.
Comfortable working on the computer and in Microsoft Office and willing to learn other computer-based skills.
Possess a balance of technical and interpersonal skills.
Excellent oral communication skills and ability to communicate with various people.
Willingness to learn and apply new skills.
Ability to work in a team and independently.
Creative, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Resourceful and responsible.
Demonstrated ability to engage with individuals of many demographics and historical backgrounds.
Excellent planning and organizational skills, including the ability to plan events and organize volunteers.
Ability to manage several task lists at once and adapt to changing conditions (weather, volunteer cancellations)
Ability to teach gardening concepts to a variety of learners.

Understanding of and commitment to food justice values.
Comfortable with manual labor outdoors, working in all weather conditions, and having the physical ability to lift to 40 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in science, public health, agriculture, social sciences, or related field.
Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Red-Cap, and Excel.
Some experience in carpentry and/or landscaping.
Willingness to learn new skills in carpentry and landscaping.

Responsibilities:
Recruit study participants, help sustain volunteerism in gardens, maintain gardens, and work with partners to coordinate and implement the intervention components in a timely manner.
Track and document activities including volunteer hours and assist with study evaluation.
Lead efforts to coordinate garden activities in assigned gardens and manage communications internally and externally with partners.
Manage study rigor, integrity, and quality control.
Perform other duties as assigned.
