Job description

SENIOR COPY EDITOR

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Senior Copy Editor meticulously reviews and revises written content to ensure accuracy in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style. This role also improves overall clarity and readability of content by checking for consistency and making necessary edits, including revising word usage and sentence structure. The senior copy editor works closely with an editorial team to refine the work before publication, and must be comfortable making edits and revisions in Adobe Experience Manager (AEM).

 

For this remote role, we are currently accepting candidates residing in the following states - NC, AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, ME, MI, NJ, NY, OR, SC, TN, TX, VT. This is a temporary full-time role expected to last from 3/31/2025-12/31/2025.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Proofreading: Thoroughly checking for errors in grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • Fact-checking: Verifying the accuracy of dates, statistics, and other information
  • Style consistency: Ensuring adherence to established style guides, brand guidelines, and formatting standards
  • Attend client calls and develop a deep working knowledge of the brand and its products and services

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education: 

 

Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, English, or related

 

Experience: 

 

Minimum of 5 years as a copy editor in a fast-paced environment. Working at a content/media agency and working in a digital environment are highly preferred. Prior experience with financial or insurance content is a plus, as is previous experience with AEM.

 

 

Skills:

 

  • Proficiency with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and workflow tool
  • Must be able to collaborate
  • Must be able to juggle multiple projects and turn around copy edits on strict deadlines, with strong attention to detail
  • Proven experience copy editing content for spelling, clarity, punctuation, grammar, voice, style, and tone
  • Experience checking sources for the accuracy of stats and quotes cited
  • Must be comfortable editing all content types, including short- and long-form articles, white papers, digital and social content, and display and body copy
  • Ensure compliance with trade and service marks; enforce brand standards
  • In-depth knowledge of copy-editing tools and stylebooks (Associated Press, Chicago, etc.)
  • Command of both written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Experience editing the financial services or insurance industry is a plus

  • The salary for this position will range from $47,500 - $60,000 ($64,125-75,000 in NYC/CA)  depending on experience, education, geographical location, and other factors.
