We’re seeking an Account Executive with strong knowledge across the spectrum of employer-sponsored health & welfare related plans, including federal and state regulations that impact these plans. The book of business is primary self-funded and over 100 lives.
The Account Executive interacts with clients on a day-to-day basis, while developing and maintaining relationships with both client and carrier representatives to develop and execute on the client’s benefit strategy. The Account Executive will research, analyze, and evaluate medical, life, disability and other benefit plans and serve as the benefit expert to clients. The Account Executive is the primary point of contact for clients and will have indirect supervision of team members, review work for accuracy and delegate work and projects to other members of the team to ensure client deliverables are timely and accurate. The Account Executive is responsible for revenue growth – client expansion – on their personal book of business and assisting producers and team with prospecting new clients, including proposal development.
Your Impact:
Subject matter expert in Health & Welfare Benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and voluntary benefits, with a book of business worth $1,000,000+
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, prospects, and carriers; keep clients informed on industry trends, regulatory issues, and proactively address their needs
Utilize Risk Strategies resources to maximize efficiency, manage proposals, renewals, and oversee open enrollment processes, ensuring compliance with regulations
Provide strategic recommendations, negotiate with carriers, and communicate underwriting concepts to clients, including funding alternatives, rates, and cost drivers
Accountable for all work product across the AE’s book of business, ensuring updates in appropriate software (e.g., BenefitPoint, AMS), and mentor junior team members
Successful Candidates Will Have:
Active California Life, Accident, and Health Insurance License with 5+ years of health & welfare experience in agency or brokerage environments, including client-facing roles in the employee benefit industry
Technical expertise in benefits administration, HealthCare Reform, industry trends, and carrier products and services
Ability to discuss claims and/or financial projections with self-funded clients
Knowledge and understanding of alternate funding methods for large groups
Strong communication skills (written and oral), attention to detail, advanced critical thinking, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Comfortable and proficient presenting to clients and employees for Open Enrollment and renewal presentations
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, anticipate client and team needs, and follow up diligently
Ability to travel 10%-15%
GBA or CEBS certification and bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are a plus

At Risk Strategies Company, base pay is one part of our total compensation package, which also includes a comprehensive suite of benefits, including, for eligible employees, medical, dental, vision, disability, life, and retirement savings. The total compensation for a position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. The expected base pay range for this position is between $84,200.00 - $130,000.00 + bonus. The actual base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including geographical location, education, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
