THE ROLE
AG1 is seeking a highly skilled Principal Product Manager with a strong background in DTC (Direct-to-Consumer) and eCommerce to join our Growth & Operational Engineering team. Reporting to the VP of Growth & Operational Engineering, you will play a central role in driving technical product solutions that enhance our DTC customer experience and support critical eCommerce operations. Working in close collaboration with business Product Managers and department leads, you will lead a team of Designers and Engineers to oversee multiple technical product lines. These lines support cross-functional teams in areas including CRO/Paid Acquisition, Brand & Corporate Partnerships, Supply Chain, Marketing Operations, Customer Experience & Retention, Customer Happiness, International Markets, and Commercialization.
As a Principal Product Manager, you will partner with one or more departments to deeply understand their DTC and eCommerce objectives, translating these into clear technical requirements. Your leadership throughout the product development lifecycle will ensure alignment with AG1’s vision, enabling us to deliver innovative, optimized, and high-value technical products to our customers in a dynamic environment.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Act as the primary owner of technical product development across multiple DTC and eCommerce-focused domains, collaborating with design and engineering to deliver high-impact user experiences.
- Partner with stakeholders to define and implement a technical product vision and strategy that aligns with our DTC and eCommerce goals.
- Manage the technical product portfolio for Software Engineering, Design, and Application & Systems teams.
- Define and prioritize DTC-focused product features and create requirements that align with business drivers and customer needs.
- Develop and communicate clear roadmaps for engineering teams, ensuring alignment with both tactical and strategic business objectives.
- Provide executive stakeholders with updates on progress, risks, and milestones for technical products.
- Promote a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and testing within technical teams.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for technical advancements that drive eCommerce and subscription growth.
- Establish and track KPIs to measure success and enhance DTC and eCommerce product performance.
- Ensure compliance with industry, security, and regulatory standards in all technical products.
- Work closely with external engineering partners to build scalable and cost-efficient solutions that support AG1’s growth.
- Implement security and performance optimizations to reinforce AG1’s position in the DTC market.
- Stay current with technology trends, making recommendations to enhance AG1’s technical capabilities.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; an MBA or equivalent experience is a plus.
- At least 8 years of experience in technical product management or engineering, with a proven track record of managing technical product lines in DTC and eCommerce settings.
- Expertise with technical products in DTC websites, CPG customer experiences, Commerce, Subscription, Data, Supply Chain, and Finance is required.
- Strong technical expertise across front-end, back-end, and infrastructure technologies, particularly within eCommerce contexts.
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment focused on DTC growth.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Solid background in Agile & Scrum methodologies and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Direct experience in eCommerce and subscription technology; DTC eCommerce experience is highly valued.
- Experience working with onshore and offshore development teams.
- Familiarity with third-party tools, including CMS platforms (e.g., Sanity), CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), e-commerce platforms (e.g., Shopify), and marketing tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and tackling technical challenges.
- Business acumen, with a strong ability to align technical product strategies to AG1’s DTC goals.
- Knowledge of UI/UX principles and user-centered design concepts is highly desirable.

AG1 is dedicated to providing equitable and competitive compensation & benefits packages. For this particular role, the base salary range is $170,000 - $200,000 and will ultimately be decided at the offer stage, based on an individual candidate’s level of skills and experience aligned with the needs of this role. Base salary is one component of total compensation for this position. We provide a competitive mix of base salary, performance bonus, and stock option allocation for eligible roles.
