Job description

LightFeather is seeking a Google Workspace IT Security Specialist to lead our security initiatives, safeguard our digital assets, and ensure compliance with industry standards. You will design, implement, and maintain secure IT systems within our Google Workspace environment and across corporate endpoints. This role requires close collaboration with internal teams and vendors to enforce robust security policies, manage compliance requirements (including CMMC), and protect company data.

This is a Full Time, Remote Position.

Responsibilities:

Google Workspace Security
  • Develop, implement, and maintain security policies and configurations for Google Workspace.
  • Enforce best practices for data protection, access control, and threat management.
  • Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments to identify and remediate vulnerabilities.
Endpoint Security & Laptop Management
  • Work with vendors to deploy and maintain a secure endpoint management solution for company-issued devices.
  • Oversee laptop inventory, tracking, labeling, and secure disposal processes.
  • Implement and enforce encryption, anti-malware, MFA, patching, and OS hardening policies.
Active Directory & Organizational Unit (OU) Management
  • Oversee Active Directory and OU design, ensuring proper role-based access controls.
  • Implement and maintain security group policies based on least privilege principles.
  • Manage user lifecycle automation for efficient onboarding and offboarding.
Auditing & Compliance
  • Develop and execute auditing procedures to monitor security events, user activity, and policy compliance.
  • Maintain accurate logs and reports for internal and external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with CMMC, ISO, SOC 2, and other industry security frameworks.
System Security Plan & CMMC Compliance
  • Write, maintain, and update the System Security Plan (SSP).
  • Lead the organization through the CMMC certification process and related security assessments.
  • Perform risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies aligned with security frameworks.
Corporate Network Security
  • Design and enforce secure network protocols, firewall configurations, and segmentation.
  • Monitor network security and respond to incidents, vulnerabilities, and emerging threats.
  • Establish best practices for incident response and business continuity planning.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • US Citizenship.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of IT security experience, with a focus on Google Workspace administration and endpoint protection.
  • Google Workspace Administrator Certification (Required).
  • Additional certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or CISM are a plus.
  • Proven expertise in Active Directory and OU structuring.
  • Strong familiarity with CMMC, NIST frameworks, and compliance standards.
  • Experience with secure laptop/endpoint deployment, OS hardening, and policy enforcement.
  • In-depth knowledge of network security principles (firewalls, VPNs, segmentation).
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
