The Opportunity

The Emerging Markets team is a shared services department that researches, selects, implements, and transitions new products and services to the 4 main divisions within Aeroflow. Those 4 main divisions are Urology, Diabetes, Mom & Baby, & Sleep. Each division specializes in a specific set of services and medical supplies aimed to treat a medical diagnosis or the symptoms of that diagnosis. 

  • Emerging Markets identifies complimentary services and products with service and products already being delivered by Aeroflow to increase sales and make access easier for Aeroflow patients.
  • Focus will be on identifying all payers that cover services or product including understanding their processing rules and medical coverage guidelines in order to maximize reimbursement.
  • The Emerging Markets Billing team specifically addresses denied and rejected claims that are sent to insurance companies for payment, provides supporting medical documentation to insurance carriers when needed, and addresses insurance audits.
  • Trending uncollectible accounts receivable with various payers as well as documenting lessons learned will be key components to successful delivery of new products and services.

Your Primary Responsibilities

We are currently seeking a Billing Team Captain that will specialize in supporting Emerging Markets with all billing related initiatives.

The duties and responsibilities for this role include:

  • Act as a subject matter expert on billing new and existing Emerging Markets products and services until they have been transitioned to functional areas.
  • Lead all billing related activity including but not limited to direct data entering of claims, manually recording billing transactions for record keeping, updating claims status, and ensuring that payments are timely and correctly posted.
  • Assist with configuration and billing new Emerging markets HCPCs
  • Review claims for root cause rejection and denial reasons and take appropriate action to remediate claims.
  • Drive personal development and employee engagement
  • Identify and implement process improvements to maximize overall efficiency
  • Gather, analyze, and communicate on recurring denial or collection reporting
  • Handle escalated concerns or requests from our customers
  • Audit productivity and quality of team emphasizing KPI’s and performance management
  • Escalate IT issues appropriately
  • Approve timecards and PTO while referencing department & HR guidelines
  • Maintain HIPPA/patient confidentiality
  • Employee has an individual responsibility for knowledge and compliance with laws, regulations and policies
  • Compliance is a condition of employment and is considered an element of job performance
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years’ experience working in medical claims billing
  • Ability to travel to Asheville, NC as needed (about 1-2 times per year)

 Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working with insurance billing
  • In depth knowledge on working claim denials and rejections
  • Experience with Gmail + Google Workspace and Excel
  • Knowledge of billing sleep services and other related codes
  • Previous experience managing a team is a plus
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) preferred
  • Analytical work background
  • SQL experience preferred

What to expect in the first 30 – 60 days:

  • First 30 days you will be training on:
    • 4 major internal programs
    • Basic & complex strategies for resolving an insurance claim denial
    • Key metrics & KPI’s
    • Compliance rules & regulations
    • Training is a combination of modules + one on one with supervisors and billers
  • After 30-45 days, you will be assigned an AR queue at which point:
    • Work independently on managing the queue and collecting on open AR.
    • Daily/weekly one on one prioritization sessions with supervisor
    • Keep detailed reporting on successful claim adjudication by payer
    • Communicate with team members any identified root causes for denials and rejections and take appropriate steps to mitigate.
    • Bi-monthly meetings with relevant support teams
  • Expect about 60% of your time to be spent collaborating and working with others; 40% of time to be spent working independently
