The Technical Solutions Manager (Application Delivery Architect) works closely with our customers and internal stakeholders to define plans, strategies and architectures for the installation, operation, migration and management of complex information systems. The successful candidate will be a results-oriented IT professional with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with proven interpersonal and communication skills. They must be an experienced Solution Architect with experience in software development, Agile methodologies and project delivery.
The Technical Solutions Manager (Application Delivery Architect) gathers and analyzes customer I/T (Information Technology) needs, translates these needs into requirements for specific systems management processes, products, and services, and may lead or advise the teams which install, operate and maintain the I/T system. This includes working with customer personnel and executives to identify functional and non-functional requirements and subsequently working with and leading others in the evaluation of options and the identification, justification, and design of the customer’s solution. The position is responsible for the overall solution related to quality, performance, availability, scalability and integrity, ensuring solution viability and delivered functionality in alignment with requirements. The Technical Solutions Manager (Application Delivery Architect) reports directly to the Manager, Delivery Architecture and interfaces with all affected stakeholders both internal and external to ISM in a matrix environment.
NOTE: the preferred work location for this position is Regina, Saskatchewan; however, the work location will be dependent upon the location of the successful candidate.
Responsibilities:
Act as an integrator between business and technical teams to assess application and system performance and provide recommendations for applications, and when required, for the underlying infrastructure
Advise on the characteristics and considerations associated with systems management and operations architectures
Architect and design enterprise application solutions
Assess current systems management practices
Perform service level agreement negotiation and documentation
Own non-functional requirement process and build appropriate templates and guidelines
Assess application and system performance and provide recommendations for both applications and infrastructure
Provide quality assurance services on projects to ensure that the quality of delivered solutions reflects what was proposed
Provide thought leadership and project advisory services to customers on a billable basis
Arrange for the delivery capability (people, skills, tools) to effectively deliver services to both internal stakeholders and external ISM customers
Work with other ISM departments to leverage knowledge, tools, and training to optimize solution delivery, quality, and costs
Provide leadership, guidance, and training of technical solution staff, so that business objectives and customers’ requirements are met
Regularly participate in overall technical solution/services planning and objective setting in for both internal and external customers
Regularly attend or run customer meetings reviewing technical requirements, solutions and issues relating to the delivery of both internal and external customer projects
Participate in, and/or be responsible for the collection, creation, protection, and reuse of intellectual capital
Participate actively in knowledge sharing activities like communities of practice, forums, conferences and/or other knowledge exchanges
Lead demos, project workshops, requirements gathering sessions and other project delivery activities
Work with and lead diverse teams across regions, with different skill sets, expertise and experience levels
Elicit requirements and non-functional requirements from customers using a variety of methods including interviews, workshops and techniques such as Design Thinking
Apply and follow architectural and project methodologies
Who You Are
Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Certified in Architecture – Open Group Certified; TOGAF 9 or higher
Microsoft Certified Azure Solution Architect Expert or AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional
7+ years of IT experience in various delivery roles including Application design, Application Support Services, and architecting applications to operate on cloud infrastructure
3+ years working as an Architect, with a focus on Applications
Deep enterprise technical knowledge demonstrated by industry and product certifications or related experience in fields such as enterprise application architecture design, enterprise application development, or cloud computing
Knowledge of cloud application implementations, D365 and Power platform application implementations considered an asset
Wide knowledge of various IT methodologies (ITIL, TOGAF, Scrum, Zachman, PMP)
Experience on projects where an agile methodology, such as Scrum, was followed
Experience leading demos, project workshops, and requirements gathering sessions
Understanding of emerging AI trends and benefits to business; ability to incorporate into application solutions where appropriate
Strong communication skills: verbal, written and interpersonal
Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate complex ideas
Key Skills & Abilities:
Proven experience delivering services with increasing degree of responsibility and proven track record with the ability to execute according to plan
Experience developing business relationships as well as managing and maintaining customer relationships
Experience developing architectural artifacts, including context diagrams, component models, logical operational models, physical operational models, architecture on a page and architecture decision requests
Demonstrated ability to engage and advise others on tools, technology, and methodology related to designing and implementing IT solutions in their area of technical specialty
Demonstrate the ability to recognize complex problems related to proposed solution or new solution development
Demonstrated ability to identify technical risks and identify mitigation options.
Ability to determine customer requirements and service delivery options
Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools
Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team environment, as well as independently
Demonstrated leadership, supervisory and organizational skills
