Position Overview:

This Sr. Principal Platform Engineer will design, implement, and maintain Raytheon-wide orchestration and container management platforms using Kubernetes to support software and solutions across various environments, including air-gapped and cloud infrastructures. The role includes collaborating across teams, prioritizing new features, and driving infrastructure automation with CI/CD.

What You Will Do:

  • Develop and enhance pipelines, processes, and systems for Kubernetes cluster optimization.
  • Automate infrastructure across VMware, bare metal, AWS GovCloud, Azure for Government, and air-gapped networks.
  • Serve as a Kubernetes SME, supporting the DevSecOps ecosystem across diverse environments.
  • Establish monitoring tools and best-practice response processes.
  • Collaborate with programs, engineers, and peers to understand requirements and deliver solutions.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelors in STEM and 8 years of direct experince or a master’s degree in STEM and 5 years of direct experience
  • Expertise in CI/CD pipelines (GitLab/Jenkins) and automation using Python, Golang, or Bash.
  • Experience with Kubernetes installation, configuration, and support in cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Experience with Terraform and Packer for infrastructure as code.
  • Experience with Rancher RKE2, OpenShift, VMware Tanzu or similar platforms.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued secret security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance."

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Proven ability to design and operate secure, scalable, high-performing systems.
  • Experience deploying platforms in regulated and air-gapped environments.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native technologies, including Helm, ArgoCD, and Kustomize.
  • Agile team experience and excellent communication skills.

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
