Job description

Job Title: Technical Co-Founder / CTO (Fintech Startup)

Location: Remote (Open to US-based and international candidates)

Compensation:

  • US-based: $200,000 - $250,000+ per year, plus equity

  • International: $80,000 - $100,000 per year, plus equity

About the Company: We are a fintech startup led by a non-technical founder, building a next-generation peer-to-peer (P2P) payments app. Our mission is to create a seamless, secure, and efficient platform that connects multiple payment providers to offer users a frictionless transaction experience. We are looking for a hands-on technical co-founder or CTO to lead the development of our Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and drive the company’s long-term technology vision.

Role Overview: As the Technical Co-Founder / CTO, you will be responsible for architecting, building, and scaling our fintech platform. You will have the opportunity to shape the product from the ground up, making key technical decisions while ensuring compliance with financial regulations. You should have a strong background in mobile development, API integrations, and fintech/payment systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the technical development of our P2P payments platform, from architecture to deployment

  • Oversee mobile app development, ensuring seamless user experience and scalability

  • Design and integrate secure APIs to connect various payment platforms

  • Ensure compliance with fintech regulations, security protocols, and data privacy laws

  • Hire and manage a development team as the company scales

  • Collaborate with the founder and business team to align technology with strategic goals

  • Provide technical insights to investors and stakeholders

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Experience:

    • Previous experience as a CTO, founding engineer, or senior software engineer in a fintech startup or payments-related company

    • Experience at companies like Venmo, PayPal, Cash App, or similar is highly desirable

    • Strong expertise in mobile app development (iOS, Android, or cross-platform frameworks like React Native)

    • Deep understanding of API integrations, financial transactions, and payment processing

    • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements in fintech (money transmission laws, KYC, AML, etc.)

  • Leadership & Strategy:

    • Ability to make critical technical decisions while balancing speed and scalability

    • Experience leading teams or mentoring engineers

    • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to operate in a fast-paced startup environment

Hiring Process & Timeline:

  • We aim to hire by the end of March

  • The new hire should start in early April

  • The initial MVP development timeline is 10-16 weeks, targeting a Q2 launch
