Job description

Technical Program Manager - Deployment Success

Job Description

About Overland AI:

Founded in 2022 and headquartered in Seattle, Washington, Overland AI is transforming land operations for modern defense. The company leverages over a decade of advanced research in robotics and machine learning, as well as a field-test forward ethos, to deliver combined capabilities for unit commanders. Our OverDrive autonomy stack enables ground vehicles to navigate and operate off-road in any terrain without GPS or direct operator control. Our intuitive OverWatch C2 interface provides commanders with precise coordination capabilities essential for mission success.

Overland AI has secured $42M in funding, including a Series A led by 8VC, and built trusted partnerships with DARPA, the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, and Special Operations Command. Backed by eight-figure contracts across the Department of Defense, we are strengthening national security by iterating closely with end users engaged in tactical operations.

Who you are:

We’re looking for an ambitious problem-solver who thrives in challenging environments and has a passion for delivering advanced autonomy systems in the field. As a Technical Program Manager - Deployment Success, you will be a core member of our team, managing the technical delivery of our ground autonomy systems in remote and austere locations. In this role, you’ll work directly alongside end-users of our systems, iterating rapidly on solutions that push the boundaries of ground robotics. You will coordinate the logistics, deployment, and sustainment of our equipment in the field, engaging deeply with hardware, robotics, and agile software development practices.

What you’ll do:

  1. Iterate and evolve our solutions in response to real-world requirements in partnership with our users.
    1. Work side by side with end-users to rapidly iterate on product functionality, gathering critical feedback to enhance the product’s effectiveness in dynamic environments.
    2. Influence the product roadmap by being the end-user’s advocate, ensuring user needs and deployment challenges shape software and hardware development priorities.
    3. Collaborate across Overland AI to support agile software development, driving the integration of end-user feedback into our ground autonomy systems.
    4. Contribute to follow-on contract strategies by identifying opportunities to expand and improve program offerings based on field successes and user requirements.
  2. Lead the deployment and technical success of our ground autonomy systems in challenging environments.
    1. Establish effective program governance, manage updates, and facilitate clear communication with stakeholders, customers, and field software and hardware engineers.
    2. Coordinate all aspects of logistics and deployment, ensuring equipment, personnel, and resources are on time and operationally ready.
    3. Develop and maintain enduring relationships with end-users, acting as the face of Overland AI during field deployments and customer interactions.
    4. Create and manage detailed documentation, including charters, design reviews, project plans, and technical field support guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Ability to obtain a US government security clearance.
  • Ability to travel 50% or more.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience as a Technical Program Manager.
  • Experience fielding software or hardware products to real operating environments in deep-tech, defense, or high-growth start-up domains.
  • Effective communicator with demonstrated ability to collaborate and influence cross-functionally.
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycles.
  • Familiarity with ground autonomy systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver successful outcomes on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced operating environment.
