Roles and Responsibilities 

As the Corporate Paralegal, your role is crucial in managing the company’s legal affairs seamlessly. You act as the primary liaison for two Boards of Directors, ensuring smooth communication and coordination among Shareholders, Directors, Committees, and staff.  Your oversight of state insurance filings and compliance, including key communications with the Missouri Department of Commerce and Insurance (DCI), is essential in maintaining the company's regulatory compliance, and strong reputation.

Your Key Areas of Impact

Corporate Governance: You provide materials and essential documents, reports and information to board members to support their governance responsibilities, strategic decision-making, and oversight. These materials help board members stay informed about the company’s performance, strategic priorities, risks and compliance obligations, ensuring they can fulfill their duties effectively.


Report Filing: By taking primary responsibility for the company's state Third Party Administrator (TPA) filings, annual reports, and unclaimed property filings, you ensure regulatory compliance and operational integrity. Your oversight of state insurance filings and compliance is vital in maintaining the company's adherence to legal standards.


Ensuring Compliance: You play a key role in developing, implementing, and maintaining compliance policies, procedures, and controls that align with regulatory and contractual requirements. You identify potential compliance gaps and proactively address them, ensuring the company's operations are in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, industry standards, and contractual requirements.


Assisting Director of Compliance: By supporting the Director of Compliance with legal tasks, including managing the companies' trademark portfolios, performing legal research, and assisting with litigation, claims, and subrogation matters, you are essential in safeguarding the company's legal interests.   


The Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Travel 

Your work is conducted at the Lewer Administrative Offices. Travel for this seat is expected to be less than 10%. This position is eligible for Lewer’s Work from Home Policy. You must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time, and be able to occasionally move about inside the office to access filing cabinets, office machinery, etc. You will operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a phone, calculator, copy machine, and computer printer 75% of the time. You will need to be able to lift 20 lbs.


Requirements

You hold a degree from an accredited university in Business, Legal Studies, or a related field. While a Paralegal Certification is preferred, your keen attention to detail and ability to manage multiple competing priorities are essential. You excel at maintaining and protecting sensitive and confidential information. As a problem solver, you anticipate potential issues and plan contingencies accordingly. Your written communication is poised and professional, with strong proofreading skills and the ability to craft organizational documents. You are proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as Adobe.
