About the Role

We’re seeking a meticulous, detail-oriented Revenue Accountant with experience in Marketplace platforms. As a Revenue Accountant you will play a key role in ensuring accurate revenue recognition and accounting for transactions within our marketplace platform. This position requires expertise in handling large datasets, identifying errors or inconsistencies in financial records, and providing insight to improve processes. You will work closely with the Controller and Accounting Manager to accomplish all revenue accounting initiatives.

Requirements

Core Responsibilities:

  • Ensure proper revenue recognition in accordance with company policies, industry standards, and applicable accounting regulations (e.g., ASC 606)
  • Manage revenue reporting from marketplace transactions, including sales commissions, fees, and commissions to sellers and ensuring accurate reconciliation between company records and third-party data sources
  • Work with large datasets to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement. Analyzing data from multiple systems and platforms to ensure financial reports are accurate and complete
  • Spot errors or inconsistencies in revenue reports and financial data, proactively investigating and resolving any discrepancies
  • Work closely with Finance, Product, and Engineering teams to ensure seamless integration between accounting systems and marketplace platforms
  • Contribute to the optimization of accounting workflows, automation initiatives, and internal controls related to revenue recognition
  • Perform all month-end and year-end close processes by preparing journal entries, account reconciliations and other support as needed for all revenue related accounts (e.g., revenue, deferred revenue, cash)
  • Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication, time management and organizational skills and can manage a variety of priorities while meeting deadlines
  • Work autonomously and be proactive at finding ways to improve processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 1-2 years of experience in revenue accounting, ideally with marketplace or platform-based business models
  • Strong understanding of revenue recognition principles (ASC 606) and experience applying them in a marketplace context
  • Experience working with large data sets and proficient Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., NetSuite or similar), and experience working with integrated accounting and marketplace systems
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a keen ability to spot errors or inconsistencies in financial data
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Salary: $85,000 - $95,000 /DOE
