This position will be based in our London office with a hybrid schedule that has the option of working two days remotely each week.
About the role
Industry Practices has been created to deliver market leading multiline solutions for specific high performing industry verticals.
Our specialist underwriting team is building a multiline bespoke client centric proposition tailored for the Life Science Industry and is supported by claims and in house specialist risk engineering.
We are looking for a multiline Underwriter who wishes to specialise in the exciting Life science sector and help develop and execute on a UK Retail Regional Underwriting strategy.
Responsibilities
Develop and support the expansion of the Life Science Practice into the UK Regions and build on new and existing broker relationships across the regional market
Focus on top and bottom line underwriting profit and delivery of Everest Retail plans
Specific focus on Life science Products Liability, Employers Liability, Public Liability, Property, Terrorism and Cyber
Proactively participate in the building and execution of the Everest Regional Retail Plan.
Actively invest and be able to demonstrate an expansion of underwriting and product knowledge, through dedicated training (internal and external) and working with other underwriters on specific accounts.
Have the skills required in managing a portfolio of new business and eventually Renewals including underwriting & pricing, referral, processing, broker and client relationships, and servicing.
To monitor all relevant portfolio KPIs for own regional portfolio of accounts and support the Head of Life science across the broader UK portfolio.
Work with the actuarial team to effectively price individual risks and add influence to our rating process and dedicated rating models.
Collaborate with Risk Engineering to deliver bespoke added value services.
To participate in the underwriting peer review process at the weekly and monthly underwriting meetings, as required.
To monitor and keep abreast of changes in underwriting, regulation and compliance.
To assist in the improvement of rating models, underwriting manuals, service standards, marketing materials, website as required
Business travel as required to support the above objectives, and the appropriate management of T&E expenses.
Experience, Skills & Competencies
Minimum of 5 years Industry or Underwriting experience as well as good technical knowledge of Regional Retail Life Science business.
ACII qualified or significant progress towards.
Relationship building – ability to establish and maintain sound relationships both internally and externally
Strategic skills – show an ability to determine opportunities and threats through comprehensive analysis of current and future trends that may impact our business.
Judgment / decision making skills – shows ability to use logic, rationality and objectivity in decision making

Compliance – ability to understand and ensure compliance with all internal and external management and regulatory controls, with appropriate support.
Market and product knowledge – ability to maintain and develop market knowledge including competitor profiles and products
Proven sales track record across the UK regions
