At Sand Cherry Associates, we excel in the design and delivery of strategic customer-centric initiatives through digitally-native, data-empowered solutions.  Our client’s confidence in us is centered on exceptionally skilled, high-energy talent working with the support of the full Sand Cherry team.  Finding the right match for this role is a critical aspect of continuing that success.

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager/Program Manager to join a forward-thinking team in the Oil & Gas industry. This is a technology-driven role that will require an individual who is not only proficient in project management but also passionate about piloting new technologies. The successful candidate will focus on subsurface processing and the development and integration of cutting-edge solutions. The Senior Project Manager will play a critical role in managing large-scale, high-impact projects, particularly those related to subsurface processing technologies and post-combustion capture systems. You will help lead innovative technology programs aimed at improving efficiency, reducing emissions, and advancing sustainability initiatives. This is a remote consulting engagement for 6 months+. Qualified candidates must live in the United States to be considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Technology Pilot Programs: Manage the implementation and piloting of new technologies related to subsurface processing and post-combustion capture, ensuring these innovations are integrated into project workflows and meet performance expectations.
  • Project Leadership: Oversee and drive large-scale projects from inception to completion, ensuring that they meet technical, financial, and schedule objectives. Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that new technologies are effectively adopted and executed.
  • Project Appraisal & Feasibility: Conduct project appraisals with a strong focus on emerging technologies in subsurface processing, evaluating the technical feasibility, economic viability, and risk associated with the introduction of new solutions.
  • Collaboration with Engineering Teams: Work closely with research and development teams to evaluate and assess new subsurface processing technologies and post-combustion capture solutions. Be an advocate for technology adoption, helping to bridge the gap between R&D and operational teams.
  • Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including technology vendors, contractors, regulatory bodies, and clients. Effectively communicate the value proposition of new technologies and ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Risk Management: Implement risk management strategies that take into account the potential challenges associated with new technology deployment, addressing technical, operational, and financial risks.
  • Technology Integration: Ensure that the latest technology solutions are seamlessly integrated into the existing infrastructure, promoting operational efficiency and cost savings.
  • Quality & Safety Assurance: Ensure all projects are executed with an emphasis on safety, quality, and environmental performance, adhering to the highest industry standards.
  • Budget & Schedule Management: Monitor and control project budgets and schedules, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget, particularly when implementing new technology solutions.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of project engineers and technical specialists, particularly in areas involving subsurface processing and technology integration.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that projects comply with relevant local, regional, and international regulations, especially those pertaining to environmental impact, subsurface operations, and new technology implementation.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates to senior management and key stakeholders, reporting on progress, risks, and technology performance.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Petroleum, Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, or related field). A Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
  • Experience: 6-8 years of experience in project management within the Oil & Gas industry, with a focus on subsurface processing, emissions management, and technology integration.
  • Strong track record of leading technology-driven projects, particularly in the areas of subsurface processing and post-combustion capture.
  • Experience piloting new technologies from concept to execution and understanding their integration into operational workflows.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Strong expertise in subsurface processing technologies and post-combustion capture systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of carbon capture, CO2 sequestration, and emissions management technologies.
  • Familiarity with industry-leading design tools and simulation software used in subsurface and environmental applications.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6, etc.) and basic knowledge of engineering design and tools.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional teams, with a focus on driving technological innovation and adoption.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving & Innovation: Strong problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to tackle complex technical challenges and integrate new technologies into existing systems.
  • Technology Focus: Prior experience in driving technology change in subsurface processing, carbon capture, or related emissions technologies.
  • Sustainability Knowledge: Familiarity with sustainable practices and technologies related to reducing environmental impact and carbon footprints.
