Cloudera is looking for a talented, motivated, and passionate Systems Engineer to join our IT Technical Operations team. This individual will be responsible for the technical ownership, design, planning, implementation, and highest level of performance tuning and recovery procedures for mission critical enterprise systems. This individual will work closely with our Security, SRE, and Cloud Operations teams to support our FedRAMP environment within AWS.

*To comply with FedRAMP requirements, candidates must be US citizens on US soil to be considered for this role. This is a US-Remote opportunity.

As an Systems Engineer you will:

  • Primary responsibility will be, but not limited to, Systems Engineering for FedRAMP High deploymen

  • Configure and deploy environments, platforms, and systems via automation scripts, Terraform, Packer, etc., within FedRAMP environments

    • Configure and maintain VDI solutions such as AppStream 2.0

    • Configure and maintain the Git platform

    • Configure and maintain EC2 instance deployments

    • Build images via Packer in AWS, and other scripted means

    • Routine patching

    • Follow FedRAMP High baseline authorization policy framework

  • Assist with the deployment and configuration of multiple back office platform resources

  • Contribute to code commits via Git following standard review/approval workflows

  • Provide and assist with policy framework documentation

  • Work closely with cross functional teams (SRE, Security, Engineering) to collaborate on optimal solutions for current and future projects

  • Cross-train technical staff in how to use new software and hardware

  • Perform troubleshooting, lead problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations

  • Ensure the integrity and security of data/systems, and look for continuous improvement to the current state of security architecture

  • Ensure high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical services

  • Develop procedures, programs, and documentation for backup and restoration of host operating systems and applications

We are excited about you if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience

  • Strong operational experience with AWS including: EC2, KMS, S3, IAM (roles, users, IDP, policies), resource policies, ACLs, AppStream 2.0, auto-scaling groups, ELB/ALBs, and EC2 userdata, and AL2

  • Moderate to advanced experience with Terraform: ability to use and develop Terraform AWS modules for repeatable deployment, configurations, and automation

  • Strong experience with scripting (bash, python, etc)

  • Extensive experience with RHEL based GNU/Linux operating system including common tools such as Git, Puppet, pip, etc

  • Ability to communicate technically complex information both verbally and in writing; establish and maintain cooperation, understanding, trust and credibility; perform multiple tasks concurrently, and respond to emergency situations effectively.

  • Strong understanding of following policies and procedures associated with federally regulated and secured environments

  • Demonstrated ability to perform best practices and follow security standards by default

  • Must reside within the United States (territories excluded)

You may also have:

  • Experience with AWS tooling such as: aws-backup, ACM, Route53, SecretsManager

  • Possess a strong understanding of cryptography, SSL, PKI

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of TCP/IP networking

  • Red Hat and/or Amazon certifications are a plus
