Job description

Are you passionate about leading, coaching, and inspiring a team of salespeople?

At Butternut Box, our Direct Sales team attends hundreds of events, trade shows and exhibitions to connect directly with customers and share our mission of spreading more health and happiness to dogs all over the world. As the Sales Team Leader - North, you’ll lead a team of freelance salespeople (or Brand Ambassadors as we like to call them), helping them thrive through hands on coaching, training and motivation. You’ll lead our team in one of our busiest and most vibrant regions, driving performance and making a real impact on the lives of dogs and their owners.

This is a hands-on role based in Manchester that will require time in the field with your team and some travel across the north of England and Scotland. You can expect to:

  • Coach & Develop: Use your proven sales expertise to mentor a team of self-employed salespeople, some of whom are new to sales. Help them reach their full potential through hands-on coaching, feedback, and training.
  • Drive Performance: Support the team in meeting sales targets while maintaining world-class customer service standards. You’ll ensure that every customer feels valued, and every dog gets the best start with Butternut Box.
  • Foster Culture: Build a strong, inclusive and motivated team culture where salespeople feel connected to our mission of making dogs’ lives better.
  • Problem Solve: Address day-to-day challenges, from logistical issues to performance coaching, with energy and creativity.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with the Regional Manager to implement strategies that improve team performance and customer experience.
  • Recognise & Celebrate: Make sure every salesperson feels supported and recognised for their hard work, building a team that stays with us and delivers long-term success.

🤔 Why join us?

  • Mission driven work: Be part of a team dedicated to spreading health and happiness to dogs and their humans through the power of Fresh dog food.
  • Growth opportunities: Join a rapidly growing business with plenty of opportunities to advance your career. Our now Head of Sales started in this role and we have lots of stories similar to this.
  • Autonomy: Own your region and make a tangible impact on the business.
  • Supportive environment: Work closely with a passionate and invested leadership team who will support you every step of the way.

👋  A bit about you:

  • Full UK driving license and your own car.
  • You demonstrate the ability to hit or exceed sales targets, and you’re eager to pass those skills on to others.
  • You are willing to work 3 days in the field, 2 in the office with this being flexible.
  • You thrive on helping others grow, succeed, and feel supported. You’re motivated by seeing your team excel.
  • You are ready to put in the hours and effort needed to make your team a success, investing in their growth and performance with quarterly travel across the north of England and Scotland required.
  • You understand that delivering great customer experiences is as important as achieving high sales figures.
  • You live and work with dedication, openness, genuine care, and a drive to always strive for better.
  • While management experience is not essential, you should have the ambition and skills to grow into a leadership role.
