Job description

Please note that while this role is remote, all candidates must be within 2 hours of New York City by train or car for occasional onsite as needed.  Candidates not within this distance will not be considered.

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Manager, IT to join our team. will play a pivotal role in executing and managing our internal IT operations, leading our team of IT professionals, and driving technological initiatives to enhance efficiency and compliance across the organization.

Key Responsibilities - The following and other duties may be assigned as necessary:

  1. IT Operations and Support:
  • Provide remote and in-person technical support to staff as needed, ensuring smooth operations and minimal downtime.
  • Oversee the administration and optimization of internal tools such as Microsoft Exchange 365, Slack, AWS, Azure, and other software platforms as well as supporting hardware such as Meraki Wireless endpoints and VPN configurations.
  • Ensure all IT systems are secure, reliable, and updated regularly.
  • Project Management:
    • Plan, manage, and execute IT implementation and process improvement projects to align with business goals.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project requirements, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Act as player/coach by leading, coaching, and managing IT team members to foster a collaborative and productive environment.
    • Develop team capabilities and mentor team members to achieve professional growth.
  • Compliance and Reporting:
    • Assist with the execution of audit reports to ensure compliance with industry standards and internal policies.
    • Develop and enforce IT policies and procedures to maintain data security and compliance.
  • Strategic Contributions:
    • Contribute to the development of the company’s internal IT Roadmap, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement.
    • Stay informed of emerging technologies and recommend tools and solutions to enhance business operations.
  • Vendor and Subscription Management:
    • Oversee and manage vendor subscriptions, including invoice reconciliation and subscription renewals.
    • Build and maintain relationships with technology vendors to negotiate favorable terms and ensure high service quality.

    • Degree, certificates, or extensive experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field required.
    • 5+ years of experience in IT operations, including leadership and management  experience.
    • 5+ years of experience of managing Google Workspaces and Microsoft 365
    • 5+ years of advanced endpoint protection experience
    • Strong knowledge of IT systems, software platforms, and best practices.
    • Experience managing IT projects, including implementation and process improvements.
    • Familiarity with compliance requirements and executing audit reports.
    • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on team leadership and stakeholder engagement.
    • Ability to work onsite in midtown Manhattan as required.
    • Certifications in IT project management (e.g., ITIL, PMP) preferred.
    • Experience with Identity and Access Management of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google.
    • Experience with administering Microsoft Exchange and Google Workspace.
    • Experience with the following collaboration tools: Slack, Teams, Atlassian.
    • Experience with internal networking technologies including Cisco, SonicWall, Netgear, Merakai, etc
    • Experience with infosec tools including overseeing and running training campaigns for staff on security fundamentals and configuring and supporting antivirus.
    • Proven ability to develop IT strategies and roadmaps.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    This role will have supervisory responsibilities and be responsible for overseeing any external IT Vendor relationships.

    Location/Travel Requirements:

    This role is 100% remote though includes onsite visits to our New York City Office based on need.  This position is expected to travel 10-20% of the time based on need to the NYC office.
