Product Marketing Manager

Summary:

As product marketing manager, you are responsible for:

  • Creating marketing strategies and program plans to promote enterprise IT solution offerings through the company’s marketing and sales channels
  • Equipping our sales and marketing teams with product & customer insights and sales tools to successfully win new customers and expand sales with existing ones.

You are the expert on the target market/customers, the competitive alternatives, and our product offerings value propositions. You convert that insight into distinctive market-facing positioning & messaging, sales and marketing assets and activities that support go-to-market programs and campaigns.

As a key member of the marketing function, you collaborate with team colleagues to ensure their supporting marketing deliverables connect and resonate with target customers and the sales channels. As a partner with Sales, Strategy, Product Management, Services, and Development functions, you contribute market and sales insights and work alongside a multi-discipline team to shape a product offering’s successful go-to-market strategy.

You create program plans, budgets, and facilitate the review and approval with executive sponsors and other stakeholders. Further, you track and report performance against those programs with data and analysis across key metrics including program effectiveness, customer sentiment and adoption, and overall return on marketing investment.

Critical Outcomes of Role:

  • Establish distinctive positioning and messaging for our key product offerings that can be converted into effective marketing communications, content and sales tools applicable to multiple audiences.
  • Plan and manage go-to-market programs that support marketing & sales campaigns to activate strategic lead sources, generate sales pipeline, maximize conversion rates and accelerate wins.
  • Equip sellers across direct and indirect sales channels with internal and customer-facing sales tools and content that support territory account mapping and planning, partner/lead source activation, customer prospecting, and sales opportunity pursuit.
  • Provide recommendations for GTM program performance improvements and emergent GTM strategies based on reporting and analysis of marketing and sales program performance, customer insights and other inputs.

Responsibilities:

  • Go-to-Market Strategy: Develop and execute comprehensive go-to-market programs for our strategic solution offerings, including market & customer analysis, target segmentation, product packaging, messaging, sales plays and marketing programs.
  • Product Positioning & Messaging: Craft compelling product positioning and messaging that differentiates our solution offerings in the market and resonates with target customers and partners.
  • Content Strategy & Development: Create high-quality marketing content with writers and content contributors for whitepapers, customer success stories & studies, solution briefs, blog posts, PR, and presentations to support sales and marketing efforts.
  • Product Launch: Orchestrate the launch of new product offerings including internal and external communications & activities, equipping internal teams with information, and coordinating multiple contributors.
  • Sales Enablement: Equip sales teams with the necessary tools and training to effectively prospect and sell Lifecycle Services solutions, including product training content, playbooks, sales messaging, and collateral.
  • Demand Generation: Architect demand generation strategies with Field Marketing to drive awareness and generate leads for solutions with strategic offers through strategic partner channels and marketing channels including digital marketing, events, webinars.
  • Market Research: Conduct ongoing market research to stay informed about industry trends, customer needs, and competitor activities, using insights to inform marketing strategies and product development.
  • Performance Analysis: Monitor and analyze the performance of marketing programs, campaigns and initiatives, using data-driven insights to optimize strategies, achieve marketing objectives and measure ROI.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product management, sales, and customer support, to ensure alignment and successful execution of marketing initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or marketing, or equivalent degree. MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of B2B IT product marketing experience, with at least 2 years in a market-facing / customer-facing role. Sales or business development background before migrating to marketing is a plus.
  • Exceptional writing skills with proven experience in positioning and messaging development. Candidate must be prepared to show examples.
  • Demonstrable experience in end-to-end marketing strategy, planning, program and campaign execution. Candidate must be prepared to show examples of marketing campaigns for which they had full responsibilities
  • Proficiency in productivity applications (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace) and collaboration/CRM tools (e.g. Salesforce.com, Dynamics CRM).
  • Familiarity with marketing automation tools (Marketo, HubSpot, Pardot).
  • Strong public speaking, comfortable presenting to large groups and executives.
  • Excellent interpersonal and management skills, capable of interacting with staff, cross-functional teams, and third parties.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to track and prove ROI.
