We are a talented, hardworking group that share values and characteristics that drive client, professional, and personal success.geocgi is seeking a skilled Junior Geospatial Systems Administrator to support administration and maintenance of geospatial systems for the United States Air Force Program at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois (St. Louis area) with the possibility to be remote within the United States.  The Junior Geospatial Systems Administrator will manage the Esri ArcGIS Enterprise infrastructure and related technologies deployed on Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure. The Junior Geospatial Systems Administrator will also provide desktop support for U.S. Air Force users, perform backups, upgrades, maintenance and patches on Esri’s Enterprise infrastructure and other related applications on Windows-based systems. This position’s location is at U.S. Scott Air Force Base in Illinois (St. Louis area) with the possibility to be remote within the United States. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in the administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the U.S. Air Force's Esri geospatial systems, including ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Server, and related technologies.  
  • Ensure system uptime, performance, and security, and perform routine maintenance tasks, such as backups, updates, and patches, in compliance with U.S. Air Force regulations and security protocols. 
  • Collaborate with the team to design, implement, and document Esri system architectures and workflows that meet U.S. Air Force requirements. 
  • Assist in the management and maintenance of AWS cloud infrastructure, including EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances, S3 (Simple Storage Service) storage, and RDS (Relational Database Service) databases, in compliance with U.S. Air Force cloud security policies and procedures. 
  • Ensure cloud resources are properly configured, secured, and optimized for performance and cost, and that all security and compliance requirements are met. 
  • Collaborate with the team to design and implement cloud-based solutions for the U.S. Air Force's Esri geospatial systems. 
  • Ensure users have the necessary software, hardware, and configuration to perform their jobs efficiently and effectively, and that all systems are properly secured and configured to meet U.S. Air Force security standards. 
  • Perform regular security updates, patches, and vulnerability scans on Esri geospatial systems in compliance with U.S. Air Force security protocols and regulations. 
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. Air Force security policies and procedures, including those related to cloud security, data protection, and access control. 
  • Collaborate with the team to develop and implement security best practices for ESRI geospatial systems and desktop applications that meet U.S. Air Force requirements. 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with Esri geospatial systems, AWS cloud infrastructure, and Windows-based desktop systems, in a timely and efficient manner. 
  • Use diagnostic tools and techniques to identify and resolve problems, including network connectivity issues, software conflicts, and hardware failures, and document all troubleshooting activities in accordance with U.S. Air Force regulations. 
  • Collaborate with the team to develop and maintain a knowledge base of troubleshooting procedures and solutions that meet U.S. Air Force requirements.

The following arerequirementsof the Junior Geospatial Systems Administrator: 

  • US Citizen with a DoD Secret Clearance or ability to obtain and maintain. 
  • 1-2 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Engineering. 
  • 1-2 years of hands-on experience in Geospatial Systems Administration with an understanding of Esri Enterprise infrastructure and the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure. 
  • Strong understanding of Esri software including ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Server. 
  • Experience with desktop support, including troubleshooting and resolving issues with Esri software and related applications on Windows-Based systems (Windows 11 preferred). 
  • An understanding of AWS cloud services, including but not limited to EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) for scalable computing capacity, S3 (Simple Storage Service) for storage solutions, and RDS (Relational Database Service) for managing and scaling relational databases. 
  • Familiarity with security best practices, including vulnerability scanning and patch management, and compliance with U.S. Airforce security protocols and regulations. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot database issues effectively.  
  • Skilled in communicating effectively with military command staff, contractors, and civilians, ensuring clear and concise information exchange across diverse groups and stakeholders. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively, with a passion for location-based problem-solving to support business and mission-critical challenges. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). 

 

The following arepreferredof the Junior Geospatial Database Administrator: 

  • Hands on experience with scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell.  
  • Experience with cloud security, including Amazon Web Services (AWS) IAM (Identity and Access Management) and security groups and compliance with U.S. Air Force cloud security policies and procedures. 
  • Familiarity with U.S. Air Force regulations and security protocols, including those related to cloud security, data protection and access control. 
  • CompTIA Security+ Certification. 
  • Esri ArcGIS Desktop Developer or ArcGIS Server Administrator. 
  • Amazon Web Services Certified Cloud Practitioner or Developer.
