Position Description:

In BISim, Solution Engineering (SE) is a highly visible role in the company ideally suited for those with a strong interest in the application of BISim’s advanced technologies across the whole spectrum of our customers’ complex simulation projects. This role will have a Geospatial focus and be responsible for becoming a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in BISim’s Geospatial solutions. The SE role is for an engineer or a very technically advanced technical writer who enjoys direct customer engagement and who has an interest in commercial aspects of the simulation industry.

The BISim SE team works alongside Business Development, Project Management, Product Management and Development Directors to facilitate the definition of projects, products and requirements originating from our military or industry customers. SE plays a critical role in winning new business as they act as the bridge between the business developer, the customer and the internal BISim development team. The SE manages the key technical aspects of developing solutions, culminating in a customer-focused solution, identification of non-recurring engineering, risks and assumptions, and in writing technical aspects of the proposal (e.g., the contractual statement of work).

Although principally a North American resource, the SE is likely to also support BISim’s Asian and European BDs from time to time. The role involves regularly attending and participating in technical customer meetings and demonstrations, including travel to customer sites around North America.

Interfacing with: BISim’s Business Development Directors, Product Management, Development Directors and their teams, Project Management Office.

Performing role of: Systems Engineer, Solutions Architect, and Technical Project Management.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Trusted Subject Matter Expert (SME) able to architect comprehensive BISim and potentially 3rd party solutions for customers.
Support Business Development with demonstrations of the BISim portfolio to customers.
Early customer engagement for project scoping and definition.
Requirement management, scoping and translation from customer to internal requirements.
Technical ‘solutioneering’ from customer requirements to internal solutions.
Write and manage development of new technical proposal material. Revise/rewrite existing technical proposal materials based on the requirements of each proposal.
Liaison globally with Development Directors and Product Management to coordinate technology development and resource planning.
Present project and product solutions to Development Directors and Product Managers.
Trade show, exhibition and Industry Forum attendance and technical support.

Objectives:

Present BISim’s geospatial products and technical development capability as ‘best of breed’.
Articulate and guide customer requirements and design considerations.
Deliver robust, low-risk technical solutions in well described statements of work.
Prepare all technical demonstrations and deliver all technical tasks on time and to the required professional standard.

Skills:

Effective and confident verbal and written communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders (internal and external).
Strong technical competence and geospatial subject matter knowledge in the area of Geospatial operations and/or Defense, Simulation and Training.
Able to take on and tackle solving problems.
Formal technical writing training or relevant experience in proposal writing and development.
Excellent customer relationship management.
Ability to understand and then evangelize BISim’s products (including demonstrating products).

Education & Experience:

Active US Secret clearance is highly desirable
Possess domain knowledge of Geospatial exploitation operations
Understands employment of software and hardware technologies in simulation and Geospatial exploitation
Ability to capture and clarify customer project requirements
