On behalf of Dreams, GT is looking for a Senior/Lead Microsoft Dynamics NAV Developer.
About the Client & the Project
Dreams is the UK’s leading bed retailer and the world’s largest bedding provider. Founded in 1985 and headquartered in High Wycombe, it operates 208 stores, 11 delivery centers, and a modern factory, employing over 2,300 people.
This company is one of the most profitable businesses in the sector in the world. It's also worth pointing out that they are a part of the Composite family, which is a $8 billion family business with a global footprint. It’s a perfect integrated business because they procure, manufacture, sell, and deliver to the end client.
Project: Dreams currently facing performance issues with Microsoft Dynamics NAV, particularly during peak sales periods in January, February, and March, when the system generates a lot of transactions. The technical team, which usually handles these issues, is currently overloaded with a side project, so they need additional support with system optimization.
The team consists of Head of systems, Lead Apps Dev, and small team of ERP engineers.
About the Role
The role focuses on improving the performance of the current NAV 2009 R2 Classic system and its performance optimizations during peak sales periods.
Important note: This is a short-term opportunity with mandatory weekly or bi-weekly office attendance in Wycombe.
Responsibilities:
Improve the performance of the current NAV system
Adjust and optimize NAV classic databases, especially warehousing and stock modules.
Enhance system performance to ensure customer service isn't affected during critical periods.
Manage and optimize SQL Server databases to ensure high performance and reliability.
Troubleshoot and resolve database and system-level issues, maintaining uptime during critical business periods.
Develop extensions and modifications using C/AL, ensuring robust and scalable solutions.
Define and document existing processes and technical patterns.
Provide tailored solutions to address retail-specific challenges, including inventory tracking, sales reporting, and warehouse management.
Essential knowledge, skills & experience:
7+ years of experience in MS Dynamics NAV development, including NAV 2009 R2 Classic
Strong knowledge of CA/L & Microsoft SQL Server.
Experience with warehousing and stock modules in NAV.
Experience in the Retail industry
Hands-on experience with C#/.Net would be beneficial.
Background in using LS Retail for Navision will be a plus
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
