Magnopus is looking for a Senior Technical Designer to help bridge the gap between design and engineering on cutting-edge immersive projects. This position requires a unique blend of creativity, technical proficiency, and problem-solving skills, helping create engaging and polished interactive experiences. In this role, you’ll play a key part in designing and implementing innovative solutions that empower creative teams and enhance project delivery. Collaborating with designers, engineers, and artists, you’ll take ownership of complex systems and help shape the technical design practices across the studio.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement technical design solutions for immersive experiences, aligning with client goals, user needs, and technical constraints.Prototype and validate design ideas using in-engine tools, iterating based on feedback and performance insights.Collaborate with engineers to architect efficient systems and workflows that empower creative teams.Support and mentor junior and mid-level designers, sharing knowledge and encouraging best practices.Conduct research to evaluate new tools and technologies, integrating them into the design pipeline where beneficial.Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to diverse stakeholders.Contribute to project planning and task prioritisation, ensuring deliverables are met on time and to a high standard.Troubleshoot and optimise design systems for performance, usability, and scalability.Requirements Demonstrated expertise in technical design, including experience developing interactive systems, user interfaces, and tools in real-time engines.Strong knowledge of design principles for VR, AR, or other immersive platforms.Ability to design and refine gameplay mechanics, seamlessly integrating VFX, audio, and controls to create player-centric, visually compelling experiences.Proficiency with Unreal Engine and associated tools, such as Blueprint, Control Rig, and Sequencer, or similar experience using visual scripting tools and real-time engines.Skilled in prototyping interaction paradigms and creating proof-of-concept designs. Solid understanding of scripting languages, with a focus on implementing and optimising gameplay systems.Ability to analyse and solve complex technical challenges in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.Excellent communication skills, including the ability to document and present technical solutions effectively.Proven track record of contributing to successful immersive projects, showcasing creative and technical leadership.Our interview process
