Your mission should you choose to accept it.
As a Backend Developer at ScalePad, you will play a key role in enhancing our sales quoting product, Quoter. You’ll collaborate closely with our team to build scalable, high-performance solutions while ensuring code quality, maintainability, and testability. Your expertise in PHP and Go will be critical in shaping our backend systems, while your ability to work with modern frontend and cloud technologies will be a strong asset. Responsibilities.

• Architect, develop, and test new features and improvements for our cloud-based sales quoting platform.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-tested backend code, primarily in PHP and Go.
• Work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to bring ideas from concept to production.
• Optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability, ensuring best practices in security and maintainability.
• Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge-sharing to maintain high development standards.
• Contribute to Shape Up-based development cycles, working collaboratively in small teams to deliver the highest business value.
• Maintain and improve test automation using tools like PHPUnit and Cypress.
• Support and modernize legacy microservices built in Ruby on Rails, integrating them with our PHP and Go-based systems.
• Stay updated with industry trends and continuously seek opportunities to improve processes and technology choices.

Qualifications.

• 8+ years of backend software development experience, with strong expertise in PHP.
• Experience with Go (required) and some familiarity with Ruby on Rails (nice to have).
• Hands-on experience with automated testing tools like PHPUnit and Cypress.
• Experience with modern web technologies such as React, Redux, TypeScript, Vite, Next.js, Apollo Client, GraphQL, and TailwindCSS is a plus.
• Strong understanding of scalable architecture, RESTful APIs, and microservices.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes is an asset.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex systems.
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment, taking full ownership of projects from conception to delivery.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills to collaborate effectively in a remote or hybrid setting.

Compensation$120,000 - $130,000
