We are looking for a Capital Management Engineer. As a key member of the Business Operations and Capital Management team, the Engineer manages strategic and operational capital and maintenance planning processes, performance management reporting, capital program governance and comprehensive business analytics in support of these activities. This position is responsible for providing strategic analysis and advice to senior leaders to ensure investment decisions are prudent and defendable. Within this capacity, the incumbent will be responsible for the development of capital business cases and support the development of regulatory applications.
Major Responsibilities:
Lead and support in the preparation of business cases and respond to information requests from the Alberta Utilities Commission and customer groups as part of the regulatory process
Consult with business case owners to develop the strategy and structure of complex value-add analytical initiatives that support regulatory application approvals
Lead the development of cost benefit analyses for internal and external business cases, which requires effective case management of cross-functional teams within ENMAX Power and Shared Services
Evaluate and refine data analytics to support business decisions relating to capital portfolio strategies and optimizations
Support the annual asset management capital programs which includes budget tracking, financial forecasting, and project monitoring
Support and undertake the preparation of long-term capital plans and annual budgets to ensure the proposed plan aligns with and supports corporate objectives
Support in the development, implementation, and maintenance of process maps, standards, procedures, guidelines, and other business documentation required to improve and optimize the execution and governance of capital programs and projects
Review existing processes and work with other groups to implement efficiency improvements in the execution and/or governance of capital programs and projects
Collaborate with respective business units to perform full scale analysis of projects and development of “what if” scenarios
Provide education to other business units on the regulatory and financial environment within which ENMAX Power operates
Education Required:
A bachelor's degree in engineering
P.Eng status with The Association of Professionals in Engineering and Geoscientists in Alberta (APEGA), or eligible for immediate Professional registration
Qualifications & Experience:
5+ years of experience
Proficiency with Copperleaf Portfolio (preferred), Workday Adaptive Planning (preferred) and MS Excel
Knowledge of ISO 55000 concepts
Basic understanding of Cost of Service and Performance-Based Regulation regulatory frameworks
Understanding of industry standards and regulatory requirements
Knowledge in the area of equipment maintenance strategy for Transmission, Substation, Distribution and Network
Demonstrated ability to develop sound business cases and cost-benefit analyses
Ability to develop project scenarios and analysis
Problem solving ability supporting portfolio optimization

Location: This role will be part of our hybrid (home and office) work force with office workspace located at ENMAX Place (141 - 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). You will work from home on Mondays and Fridays and in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
