POSITION: Senior Data Engineer
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Baxter Healthcare Corporation is seeking a Senior Data Engineer with the following duties:
- Lead the engineering of sophisticated data transformation pipelines from conception through continuous enhancement.
- Leverage deep expertise in data orchestration, ETL methodologies, and modern integration techniques to enhance data quality, streamline access, and strengthen the foundation for data-driven strategies.
- Design and implement comprehensive data solutions, focusing on efficient data processing, transformation, and storage.
- Develop mechanisms for data ingestion, ensuring accurate capture and accessibility.
- Oversee the administration and optimization of the data platform's infrastructure, employing systematic approaches for reproducible data processing workflows and efficient configuration management.
- Employ practices that enhance the reproducibility of data pipelines and facilitate efficient configuration management across various environments, ensuring infrastructure meets current and future needs while maintaining operational effectiveness and agility.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or related field plus 5 years of related experience
- Required skills:
- Experience in EMR clusters (5.x and higher) for large scale data processing including ability to: manage and configure Amazon EMR clusters; optimize for performance and cost while ensuring seamless integration with various AWS services; and upgrade to versions 5.x and higher;
- Develop and optimize large-scale data analytics pipelines using Apache Spark (2.4 and higher) including PySpark leveraging advanced optimizations and features that improve performance under heavy data loads;
- Utilize Python (3.6 and higher) to develop sophisticated software systems and automation scripts facilitating the development of complex, scalable data workflows;
- Implement and manage AWS data services focusing on recent versions of AWS Lambda (Node.js 12.x/Python 3.8 and higher), AWS Glue 3.0 and higher, and AWS CDK 1.x. Mastery of the latest versions of Terraform (0.12.x and higher) to efficiently handle infrastructure changes and versioning with enhanced security and flexibility;
- Manage datasets using Apache Hudi (version 0.11.x and higher), focusing on supporting near real-time data processing and incremental data loading utilizing cutting-edge features for more efficient data lake management and complex data transformation pipelines.
- This is a 100% remote position. Can live anywhere in the U.S.

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. To that end, this position has a base salary range of $147,472 - $180,000 plus an annual incentive bonus. The above range represents the expected base salary range for this position. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location.
