Job Title: Senior AI Research Engineer

Reports to: Head of Data Science

Location: Ireland - Home/Office

 

The Challenge

We're seeking a Senior AI Research Engineer to help us transition from traditional software-as-a-service to results-as-a-service in the compliance space.

 

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior AI Research Engineer to revolutionize how global companies navigate product compliance using cutting-edge AI technologies. You'll lead the development of innovative NLP and LLM solutions that transform complex regulatory information into actionable intelligence for our global customer base.

 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

 

Research & Innovation:

  • Conduct original research in NLP and LLMs focused on regulatory compliance
  • Stay current with latest AI developments and evaluate their potential for our products
  • Establish best practices for LLM development, prompting, and evaluation

Technical Leadership:

  • Design innovative model architectures incorporating advanced techniques
  • Develop sophisticated training methods including parameter-efficient fine-tuning
  • Create robust evaluation frameworks for complex NLP tasks
  • Implement production-grade research solutions that scale effectively

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with domain experts to understand regulatory compliance challenges
  • Partner with engineering teams to productionize AI solutions
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders
  • Present solutions and their business value to senior management and clients
  • Mentor junior team members in AI/ML best practices

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD or Master's in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with a strong industry track record of building AI solutions.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch, etc.
  • Extensive experience with transformer architectures and their applications
  • Proven industry track record implementing LLM-based solutions
  • Experience with semantic search and embedding-based approaches
  • Strong background in experimental design and statistical analysis
  • Excellence in technical communication and stakeholder management

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in modern AI tools and frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, Hugging Face, etc)
  • Experience with parameter-efficient fine-tuning techniques
  • Expertise in prompt engineering and LLM evaluation
  • Familiarity with advanced model architectures
  • Experience with cloud platforms (preferably AWS)

Desired Qualities:

  • Track record of research publications in NLP/LLM domain
  • Experience applying AI to unstructured data in regulatory or compliance contexts
  • Ability to balance research innovation with practical implementation
  • Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities
  • Comfort with ambiguity in research-oriented projects
  • Passion for mentoring and knowledge sharing
