This role s is remote with a five 8 hour weekday shifts; Day shift; 7-4 or 8-5. In this role you will be Providing input and guidance to system employees on privacy matters, such as P&Ps. You will also be  Creating, conducting, and assessing privacy audits, monitoring, risk assessments, training, communications and managing intake of privacy concerns/consults.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position supports privacy management functions, services and strategy for Banner Health with high independence under the direction of the Privacy Associate Director. The position is accountable for successfully leading the Privacy operational and compliance activities such as developing and following a program framework, including development and execution of the core elements or a healthcare privacy program. This position supports the creation and operations of privacy program services, including proactive measures to mitigate risk or harm to organization, patients, health plan members, and employees.

CORE FUNCTIONS

1.  Works with appropriate partners to identify HIPAA and other privacy program needs, including but not limited to enhancing process or creating new processes to refine, improve, and make more efficient the core pieces of the Banner Privacy Program.

2.  Assists in the execution of a privacy Risk Assessment and annual workplan.

3.  Analyzes privacy trends to benchmark organization against industry standard and to track  progress; plan and develop educational tools and training.

4. Work collaboratively with key internal partners, including HIMS, other compliance teams, and facility and clinical staff in the setting and achieving of designated specific goals that support the organization.

5. Creates or enhances program practices around process and documentation, which may include SOPs, policies, and standard forms. Creates new program features for auditing and monitoring. Works with system-wide groups and committees to develop policies or processes to address identified issues.

6. Directs the process of responding to regulatory inquiries or patient complaints. Uses metrics to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of the operations.

7. Develops and maintains a privacy infra-structure that ensures regulatory and legal compliance in all aspects of federal and state privacy laws. Provides expertise and acts as the subject matter expert. Develops relationships with facility and other location-specific management and compliance staff. Provides orientation and on-going education for staff. Identifies, evaluates, and reports on information privacy risks in a manner that meets compliance and regulatory requirements.

8. Internal customers include all internal corporate and facility staff and the organization as a whole. External customers include federal agencies, the legal system such as the judiciary, outside legal counsel; state agencies; state and local law enforcement agencies; physicians and other health care providers.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess a strong knowledge of business and/or healthcare as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration, or related field.

Must possess substantial knowledge and experience working in healthcare compliance including deep understanding of HIPAA and other U.S Privacy Laws Certification in HealthCare Privacy by HCCA or IAPP is preferred.

Minimum of four years’ progressive experience in a privacy role.

Strong analytical skills to effectively perform confidential privacy program management, including preparing and enforcing appropriate corrective action plans. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams and groups to plan, implement and influence organizational change. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Certification in Healthcare Privacy preferred. Prior experience working in a healthcare setting with privacy compliance, including privacy education and IT Security compliance, strongly preferred. Experience working in a complex, multi-facility organization preferred.

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
