Job Description
A bit about this role:
Devoted Medical was founded on the belief that if we treat each member like we would our loved ones, we can improve healthcare experiences and outcomes for our patients. The Behavioral Health Program is at the heart of this goal: the program seeks to ensure that all patients with behavioral health disorders receive the care they need at the right time, in the right place. We recognize that too often our patients cannot access behavioral health services that we would want for our own family because of stigma, fragmentation, and lack of supply.
We are looking for a forward-thinking, innovative, clinically excellent psychiatrist to deliver high quality, high impact psychiatric care to Devoted Health plan members with behavioral health disorders. You will join Devoted Medical as the leading psychiatric expert for Devoted Health, serving members in Medicare Advantage plans (65 and older, with an emphasis on geriatric psychiatry) and members in dual-enrolled Medicare & Medicaid Special Needs Plans (D-SNP, with an emphasis on serious mental illness and substance use disorders). In this position, you will report directly to Devoted Medical’s Chief Medical Office for Longitudinal Care.
Required skills and experience:
Desired skills and experience:
Telehealth experience preferred
Experience serving Medicare Advantage and/or Medicaid populations preferred
Geriatric psychiatry experience preferred
Experience managing other behavioral health clinicians (e.g. Social Workers) preferred
Your Responsibilities and Impact will include:
Clinical Leadership:
Deliver psychiatric care to behavioral health patients to ensure therapeutic optimization and effective, patient-centered psychiatric care. You will also provide asynchronous psychiatric consultations (e-consults) for patients across the Devoted ecosystem.
Assess the quality of care provided to behavioral health patients and deliver targeted feedback for improvement. This includes shadowing virtual visits and asynchronous call and chart reviews.
Serve as the supervising physician for the Devoted Medical Behavioral Health clinical team. In this capacity, you will support the social work team with clinical supervision as needed and serve as a clinical escalation point for the behavioral health team (e.g., LCSWs, care navigators).
Participate in regular panel review discussions to offer advice and provide guidance around medical management.
Build and maintain collaborative relationships with external stakeholders, including psychiatrists, hospitalists, and therapists.
Program Oversight & Development:
Serve as the key subject matter expert as we build out our Behavioral Health care model. This includes serving as the clinical content expert as we build our capacity to support patients with co-morbid medical diagnoses in an integrated behavioral health clinic.
Identify trends and opportunities to improve the patient experience and clinical outcomes.
Monitor program performance using KPIs such as patient engagement, symptom improvement (e.g., PHQ-9 scores), and readmission rates for behavioral health diagnoses.
Contribute to training and development initiatives to improve virtual and outpatient behavioral health care delivery.
Culture & Advocacy:
Champion a patient-centered and open clinical culture, fostering trust and empowerment within the team.
Advocate for behavioral health equity and accessibility within the organization and community.
Provide feedback to improve the electronic health information system (Orinoco) and other clinical tools.
Partner with the Director of Operations with open communication and clinical insight to inform design.
