Job description

The Opportunity

The industry has reached an inflection point for advanced advertising and 2025 is a defining year for OpenAP. Founded and owned by TV's largest publishers, we are today a collective of innovators who are fundamentally changing the way advertising is bought and sold on television. Our mission is to bring simplicity and scale to audience-based campaigns in data-driven video. Joining our team is a rare opportunity to join a company early and build from the ground up, playing a critical role in scaling the market for advanced TV.

Role Overview

The Director/VP of Product Marketing is a newly created position that will serve as the connective tissue in OpenAP’s go-to-market (GTM) strategy, planning and execution of our products and services as we aim to transform the streaming and data-driven video workflow for TV advertising. By joining our team, you’ll have the opportunity to build a product marketing function at a critical time for the company.

Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, you will partner collaboratively with Product, Commercial and Senior Leadership teams to communicate the product vision and differentiation and deliver impactful narratives across multiple channels for use in articulating OpenAP’s value proposition in the marketplace. While you’ll major in product marketing, we’re a small but mighty marketing function and we’re looking for a versatile athlete who is able to flex as needed to help our team punch above our weight and contribute to the overall success of the company.

OpenAP is a virtual team with large concentrations in Los Angeles and New York City. We prefer this person be based in the LA or NYC hub, but we’re open to getting to know candidates in remote locations.

What You’ll Do

  • Go-to-Market: Work with internal teams to execute go-to-market initiatives for new products and features within OpenAP’s suite of offerings, including driving marketing launch plans that deliver on the timelines established.
  • Competitive Intelligence & Market Trends: Bring (and maintain) a deep understanding of the ecosystem encompassing DDL, streaming, and identity resolution and how our different products work to assess and communicate the ability of these solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Messaging & Positioning: Help develop compelling product narratives and value propositions that address market needs including: developing marketing briefs, contributing to positioning, messaging, naming and packaging to position OpenAP as a thought leader in the industry.
  • Commercial Enablement: Support revenue generating efforts by developing robust materials spanning product one-sheets, FAQs, talking points, presentation decks and other customer/prospect-facing collateral that articulate OpenAP’s value proposition.
  • Material Development for Buyer Personas: Produce high-impact content and maintain a library of client-facing materials that articulate the product offering for use across various mediums, aligned with key buyer personas and tailored to different stages of the customer journey.
  • Internal Trainings: Partner with Product Leadership to facilitate internal training for the OpenAP team as new products and services become available to support understanding and effective selling of OpenAP’s product portfolio.
  • Feedback Loop and Message Optimization: Partner cross functionally on customer feedback loop, ensuring key learnings are applied consistently to evolve positioning as appropriate.
  • Reporting: Create and manage marketing KPIs to measure the effectiveness of GTM launches, using data and insights to measure success and inform future strategies.

What You’ll Need

  • Proven B2B/SaaS product marketer with 8+ years of experience in developing breakthrough product storytelling and go-to-market strategies that drive successful marketing execution in fast-growth environments.
  • Deep industry knowledge of marketing and advertising industry, with preference given to those who have experience with Identity and TV advertising
  • The ability to simplify and translate complex concepts into clear, compelling marketing content.
  • Project management expertise, with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple initiatives and campaigns simultaneously.
  • Customer-centric approach, with a deep understanding of buyer personas, customer journeys, and effective value communication at each stage of the funnel.
  • Experienced in working closely with product management, sales, and marketing teams to drive sales enablement and marketing execution.
  • Exceptional writing, communication, and presentation skills; intermediate design skills preferred.
  • Ability to operate as both player and coach, with strategic acumen and ability to roll up your sleeves to get the job done.
  • Highly collaborative team player, comfortable in fast-paced, dynamic environments. You build trusted relationships and always operate from a place of “we” not “me”.
