Description
Basic Function
The Senior Loan Processor meticulously reviews and analyzes mortgage loan applications, ensures accurate documentation, verifies borrower information, coordinates with stakeholders, and facilitates the loan approval process in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze mortgage loan applications submitted by borrowers.
- Verify the accuracy and completeness of borrower-provided documents, including income statements, tax returns, credit reports, and employment verification.
- Communicate with borrowers to request any additional documentation or information needed for the loan application.
- Provide guidance and support to loan officers in collecting necessary documentation and ensuring compliance with lending requirements.
- Conduct a thorough analysis of the borrower's credit history and creditworthiness.
- Verify the borrower's income and employment details to assess their ability to repay the loan.
- Coordinate with appraisers to ensure accurate property appraisals and evaluate the property's value in relation to the loan amount.
- Ensure that all aspects of the mortgage application process comply with regulatory requirements, including state and federal laws.
- Stay informed about different loan programs, eligibility criteria, and lending guidelines to advise borrowers and ensure adherence to program requirements.
- Collaborate with underwriters to address any additional information or conditions required for loan approval.
- Enter and update borrower information and loan details accurately into the mortgage processing system.
- Manage and prioritize a pipeline of mortgage applications to meet processing timelines and closing deadlines.
- Communicate with various stakeholders, including loan officers, underwriters, title companies, and real estate agents, to facilitate a smooth loan processing and closing process.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all loan documentation to minimize errors and delays in the approval process.
- Provide excellent customer service to borrowers by addressing inquiries, providing updates, and guiding them through the mortgage process.
- Identify and resolve any issues or discrepancies in the loan application process promptly.
- Work within established timelines to ensure timely processing and closing of mortgage loans.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior mortgage processors or support staff.
Qualifications
Experience/Education:
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); College degree preferred but not required.
- Minimum 5 years of direct processing experience required
- NMLS licensing is required to process in certain states.
- Prior experience with automated underwriting (to include Freddie and Fannie).
- Exceptionally strong analytical skills.
- Strong understanding of multiple investor guidelines.
- Strong problem solving and multi-tasking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Computer Skills:
Encompass experience is required. Experienced in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and company information system applications required. Experience working with CMS software and database and document management preferred.
