SmartBug Marketing is seeking a skilled freelance PR Specialist to enhance and support our clients’ PR efforts.

Working closely with SmartBug’s PR Manager, the PR Specialist will help execute PR strategy for our clients, including research, media outreach, press release development, speaking and award submissions, and performance reporting. This is a remote, part-time freelance role, perfect for someone with strong pitching skills and a proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research to build targeted media and analyst contact lists.
  • Develop compelling pitches tailored to podcasts, YouTube, and other digital platforms.
  • Write and distribute press releases to media contacts.
  • Secure media opportunities and build strong relationships with key influencers and journalists.
  • Coordinate submissions for speaking engagements and industry awards.
  • Track, analyze, and report on PR performance metrics.
  • Stay updated on media trends and opportunities, particularly in digital video and audio spaces.

  • Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of relevant PR experience, with a strong track record of securing podcast placements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with PR tools such as PRNewswire and MuckRack.
  • Exceptional research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Preferred but not required:
  • Hands-on experience with project management tools; familiarity with Teamwork is a plus.
  • Experience working remotely in a similar role.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with media contacts and effectively manage communications strategies.
