We are seeking a skilled and proactive Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and optimize the databases supporting our SaaS platform. As a key member of our technology team, you will ensure the performance, scalability, and security of our database systems while working closely with engineering and DevOps teams. Your expertise will help us maintain a robust, high-performance data infrastructure, enabling seamless operations and exceptional user experiences.

Primary Responsibilities

Database Design & Architecture

• Design and implement scalable, secure, and highly available database solutions.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to define optimized database schemas for microservices and cloud-native architectures.
• Ensure efficient data retrieval, storage, and analysis for both real-time and batch processing.

Performance Optimization & Maintenance

• Monitor and optimize database performance, resolving bottlenecks in queries, indexing, and resource allocation.
• Conduct regular database maintenance, including backups, patching, and upgrades.
• Automate routine database tasks to enhance efficiency and reliability.

Data Security & Compliance

• Develop and enforce database security policies, ensuring compliance with GDPR, SOC 2, HIPAA, and other industry standards.
• Implement robust access controls, encryption, and monitoring to protect sensitive data.
• Perform regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to maintain a secure database environment.

Disaster Recovery & High Availability

• Design and implement disaster recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability during system failures.
• Maintain database replication, clustering, and failover solutions for high availability.
• Test and refine backup and recovery plans to minimize downtime and data loss.

Collaboration & Innovation

• Work closely with software engineers and DevOps teams to align database workflows with application requirements.
• Stay updated on emerging database technologies and industry trends, recommending innovative tools and best practices.
• Provide support during platform upgrades, migrations, and deployments, ensuring smooth transitions with minimal impact.

Essential Qualifications

✅ 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator in cloud-native or SaaS environments.
✅ Proficiency in relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Microsoft SQL Server in cloud environments (AWS RDS preferred).
✅ Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis) and hybrid data architectures.
✅ Strong knowledge of query optimization, indexing, and schema design.
✅ Familiarity with database tools like pgAdmin, MySQL Workbench, or similar.
✅ Hands-on experience with database automation tools and Infrastructure-as-Code frameworks (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
✅ Deep understanding of data security, encryption, and compliance standards.

Preferred Qualifications

✨ AWS Certified Database – Specialty or Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification.
✨ Experience with data lakes, data warehouses, and ETL/ELT pipelines.
✨ Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools like Datadog, Prometheus, or New Relic for database performance tracking.

Education

🎓 Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
