Job description

Steer offers a suite of software tools for today's automotive repair shop. We combine a mix of software tools that a repair shop needs to run a highly profitable shop, in one user-friendly, cost-effective platform. Through the Steer CRM suite, we allow the shop owner to get back to focusing on what matters, and to stop worrying about marketing and customer retention.

Steer began as an online directory for drivers to find a local mechanic. Fast forward to today, Steer has launched a complete Customer Relationship Management (CRM) marketing suite, complete with text messaging, email automation, direct mail integration, reputation management, appointment reminders, declined/recommended services, and many other features. We are always innovating and we are proud to be a leader in the automotive repair industry.  In August 2024 Steer acquired AutoOps - the leader in modern, intelligent, and fully integrated scheduling software for auto repair shops. AutoOps allows customers to smoothly schedule through a shop's website and Google Business Profile. 

About the Role
Steer is seeking an experienced Customer Marketing Manager (CMM) to join our team. As the sole CMM, you will lead all Go-to-Market (GTM) initiatives with a strong emphasis on enhancing onboarding and upsell processes. You’ll collaborate closely with product, channel marketing, brand and creative, sales, and customer success teams to develop impactful marketing collateral that supports GTM efforts. This role requires the ability to turn customer insights into actionable strategies, communicate clearly and effectively, and bring creativity and passion to Steer’s mission and product. Your primary focus will be generating leads, boosting customer engagement, and maximizing revenue opportunities.

 

This is a 100% remote role within Spain, Portugal, Ukraine or Poland.



You Will

  • Define and execute positioning, go-to-market messaging, and launch strategies for new products and feature updates.
  • Collaborate with product, sales, customer success, and channel teams to identify their needs, address knowledge gaps, and gain a deep understanding of the target market, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance customer onboarding and upsell strategies, driving measurable improvements in customer experience.
  • Advocate for customers by demonstrating expertise and empathy for their pain points, ensuring their needs are at the forefront of decision-making.
  • Foster cross-functional alignment throughout the go-to-market process, ensuring a seamless customer journey and tracking success metrics to measure impact.
  • Develop compelling product messaging and positioning that resonates with target audiences and clearly differentiates the product in the market.
  • Create and maintain a library of self-service resources, including knowledge base articles, FAQs, in-app messages, and guides for both internal and external audiences.
  • Design impactful sales enablement materials, such as battle cards, product presentations, and one-pagers, to support the sales team.
  • Build and deliver training materials for customer success and channel partners to ensure a deep understanding of product features and value propositions.
  • Plan, manage, and optimize product launch campaigns to drive awareness, generate leads, and increase adoption.
  • Partner with the content marketing team to create engaging content that educates and informs potential customers.
  • Track and analyze product marketing performance metrics, using insights to identify areas for improvement and inform future strategies.

 

You Have

Must Have:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in customer or product marketing at a B2B SaaS company.
  • Experience working with software product organizations and a deep understanding of operating in a tech environment. 
  • Experience improving upsell/cross-sell initiatives and customer onboarding.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growing startup environment.
  • Proven experience launching new products with a fully integrated go-to-market plan and execution.
  • Strong understanding of B2B sales methodologies and customer support best practices.
  • Ability to break down complex ideas into simple, clear communication.
  • Ability to lead and collaborate cross-functionally with sales, marketing and success.
  • Genuine passion for B2B SaaS and our target market's challenges.
  • Highly skilled at planning, organizing, and independently managing multiple projects at once.
  • You think from a user’s point of view and want to get better at it all the time.

 

Nice to Have:

  • Experience marketing a product with features similar to Steer (e.g., Text & Email Messaging, Online Scheduling).
  • Strong understanding and experience in Pendo (or similar).
  • Experience developing KB articles and other self-service resources.
  • Familiarity with sales enablement tools and methodologies.
  • Experience creating content for channel partners.
  • Understanding of SEO best practices for internal search functionality.
